Technical Project Manager - Pmo (Contract)

The Project Manager manages projects of various size and complexity across the enterprise. Has accountability for execution of one or more concurrent projects within the portfolio. The Project Manager collaborates with business partners across CPS to build relationships necessary to drive excellence and value delivery in execution. This role is responsible for timely and effective written and verbal communications within the project and across stakeholder groups. This role reports to the ePMO Portfolio Manager as part of the enterprise portfolio management office (EPMO) within the IT organization.

Responsibilities

• Accountability – Accountable for the planning and execution of project delivery with success identified as on time, on budget and defined value delivered on all approved projects. Accountable for the financial management of assigned projects, including but not limited to forecasting, accrual, reporting, and variance analysis. Accountable for supporting the results of a portfolio sequencing process and establish effective resource demand and capacity management to ensure resources are effectively deployed. Accountable for managing and reporting on the projects in all stages across the portfolio. Accountable for timely and effective communication within the project team and across stakeholder groups. Accountable for leveraging the necessary tools for visibility and transparency for portfolios and projects.
• Business Partnerships – Establishes partnerships with business leadership, project sponsors and owners, and project participants. Progressively becomes recognized as a leader, expert, and mentor for others in Project Management and the CPS Energy methodology.
• Performance Management, Methodology, and Continuous Improvement - Ability to learn, follow, and propose improvements to the Project Management Methodology for CPS Energy. Ability to learn, follow, and direct others through the Portfolio Stage and Gate process. Provides overall Project governance and oversight to ensure compliance to standards and to drive excellent execution. Develops Key Performance Indicators (KPI)/metrics, standard Service Level Agreements (SLAs), Project Management Service Catalog and reporting mechanisms.
• Leadership – This position is a member of a team of highly effective Project Management professionals who are responsible for following CPS Energy defined best practices for project value delivery. Models the behaviors necessary to define, deploy and deliver project results at all levels of the organization. Understands, practices, and incorporates organizational change leadership into project management methodologies.

Minimum Qualifications

• Demonstrated success at building effective teams.
• A demonstrated ability to work effectively with business executives, leaders, with all levels of IT professionals, and with project managers and teams.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills.
• Financial acumen, with the desire and ability to improve these skills.
• Proven ability to prepare and package presentation materials and present to management.
• Ability to clarify ambiguous information or instructions into actionable steps.
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution; or similar level of analytical capability gained through demonstrated success in a related position.
• Demonstrated Project Management experience.
• Business acumen, possibly including prior experience as a Business Analyst.
• Experience managing medium to large sized projects, preferably across multiple industries.
• Organizational leadership and change skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in Utility industry.
• Demonstrated organizational design, data analysis, business planning, negotiation, problem-solving, critical thinking skills.
• Professional Certification, such as PMI, BRMI.
• Consulting experience or multidisciplinary experience.
