The State Teachers Retirement System of Ohio (STRS Ohio) is seeking a Supervisor, Member Benefits, Benefits Processing to join its Member Benefits Processing Team.

Compensation: $79,400 to 87,340
Work Schedule:
Monday through Friday, daytime work schedule with up to two days per week remote work opportunities.
General Summary:
Under the direction of the assistant director, Member Benefits Processing, perform duties of supervisor associated with the new retirement, certification, and processing assistant functions. Manage and oversee the day-to-day workflow in the areas. Ensure established performance standards are met and report on the status of work in the area. Provide leadership that results in a highly efficient and effective team. Research, evaluate and implement best practices.
Summary of Responsibilities:
  • Compile statistical data to measure accuracy and efficiency of the performance of individual team members and the team and make appropriate adjustments.
  • Resolve escalated problems with members, other internal departments, and external entities Lead or participate in the implementation of changes due to revisions to the Ohio Revised Code, Administrative Code, or other procedures.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert and provide technical support and guidance to associates; assist in handling complex and difficult cases.
  • Lead staff meetings and provide leadership, coaching, direction and mentoring for the team that results in increased efficiency, productivity, and a highly motivated team with the ability to readily adapt to process, legislative, technology and other changes.
  • Supervise the departmental operations with minimal supervision to ensure State Teachers Retirement System of Ohio (STRS Ohio) performance standards are met.

Summary of Qualifications:
  • Ability to plan and act strategically, understanding and foreseeing the impact of decisions and recommendations across systems, departments, and processes
  • Bachelor's degree in business, accounting or related field required
  • Three to five years STRS Ohio benefits processing experience or a combination of STRS Ohio and other work experience required
  • Proven ability to effectively plan and set clear goals, delegate responsibilities, ensure and monitor progress and provide timely feedback to staff required
  • Ability to build constructive and effective business relationships, ensuring members receive a seamless delivery of accurate information with prompt and courteous service
