General Purpose


Facilitates and coordinates health and welfare benefits programs, benefit enrollment and mid-year changes. Ensures benefit activities are performed in accordance with federal, state and local employment related laws and regulations.


Responsibilities


  • Assist in the annual open enrollment to include review of communications for employees and retirees.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment related laws and regulations.
  • Notify vendor of employee and dependent terminations needing COBRA offerings, Long Term Disability employees and retirees that need to be billed for premiums and monitoring of timely payments.
  • Maintain various tracking logs.
  • Facilitate enrollment activities for new hire enrollment, to include offering of benefits and mid-year changes. Validate elections, receipt of dependent documents and evidence of insurance approvals.
  • Special tasks as assigned.
  • Process death claims.
  • Perform other office administration functions as needed to include, filing, generating correspondences and reports and data entry requirements.
  • Process and validate benefits department invoices.
  • Establish and maintain confidential benefit files and records necessary for implementing benefit coverage, to include filing of benefit documents.
  • Assist internal and external customers via the toll-free benefit line, general email box and in person meetings, regarding group health plan questions, enrollment, claims issues, personal time and retirement benefits.
  • Ensure enrollment and mid-year changes are done within compliance and departmental deadlines.
  • Validate bi-monthly vendor eligibility termination dates for accuracy of file load per compliance requirements.


Requirements


  • High School Diploma or equivalent; or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proficient with the use of personal computers including spreadsheet, database and word processing applications.
  • Capability of effective planning and priority setting. Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously while working under pressure to meet deadlines and excellent follow through on tasks.
  • General knowledge of Company and departmental policies, procedures, and practices as well as applicable federal, state, and local governmental laws and regulations.
  • A minimum of two years related Human Resources experience.
  • Communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to work with all organizational levels as a team member to ensure that key information on schedules, requirements, and resources is communicated to management in a clear and timely manner.


Preferences


  • PHR or SPHR Certification.
  • Benefit administration experience.
