The GIS Specialist, Senior is responsible for providing Geographic Information Systems (GIS) support for ENGIE North America’s grid-scale Battery Energy Storage and Renewable Hydrogen development platform. ENGIE is seeking a self-motivated individual capable of working within a fast-paced, growing organization.
The GIS Specialist, Senior will support and lead a variety of activities related to hydrogen and battery storage project development across North America. A broad set of skills are required for this position, but specialized knowledge in GIS and database management paired with the ability to develop and lead a team supported by an eagerness to learn will provide a solid foundation for success.
This position is a hybrid role based in the Texas region.
What you’ll do:
- Identify additional resource needs, hardware, software, and personnel
- Maintain and improve mobile mapping application to support project development and engineering (ArcGIS Field Maps)
- Work with project developers and land agents in coordination of land acquisition and hydrogen and BESS siting efforts
- Aid in the improvement and evolution of an advanced Esri ArcGIS Enterprise mapping platform
- Provide mapping support for all hydrogen and battery storage project development activities
- Work with geospatial databases to track project status
- Hire and develop additional GIS Specialists as required
- Make and support requests for additional resources as needed
- Carry out other duties as assigned
- Provide insight, feedback, reporting, analysis, and decision-support to the project team using geospatial tools
- Develop new geospatial tools, dashboards, data mapping and GIS analysis to support strategic analysis and identification of high value locations for grid-scale BESS and Hydrogen project development
- Accurately research, gather, develop, maintain, and analyze project spatial data
- Programming experience (HTML, JavaScript, Python, SQL) strongly preferred
- Master’s degree in Geography, GIS, Environmental Science, or Engineering preferred
- Experience using Esri ArcGIS Pro and ArcMap software packages
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team-based environment
- Background working with ArcGIS Enterprise tools, including ArcGIS Portal as well as SDE and SQL Server databases is preferred
- What you bring:
- Superior verbal and written communication skills and excellent attention to detail
- Experience with ArcGIS Web AppBuilder for Developers a plus
- Ability to take initiative and effectively manage projects
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience with ESRI ArcGIS software
- Strong desire to advance the adoption and deployment of flexible renewable energy generation across North America
- AutoCAD experience a plus
- Interest and willingness to assist with non-GIS related activities
- Bachelors degree in Geography, GIS, Environmental Science, or Engineering required
- Demonstrated map and data sourcing and interpretation skills

The pay range for this role is: $76,245-184,600. The listed salary range represents ENGIE’s good faith estimate for this position and represents the minimum and maximum for new hire salaries across all U.S. locations. An employee’s rate of pay within the range is determined by their work location, and additional factors, including qualifications, relevant experience, and demonstrated performance over time. In addition to those factors, we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as a part of any final offer. Please keep in mind that the range stated above is the full base salary range for the role. Hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical in order to allow for future and continued salary growth. This position is eligible for our comprehensive and competitive benefits package and certain positions are eligible for additional forms of compensation such as bonuses and commissions. ENGIE complies with all federal, state, and local minimum wage laws.
