About the role

As a Senior Director–Merchant Products, you will lead our Merchant Product efforts (North American innovation and growth), focused on end-to-end merchant/partner/marketplace experiences and payment solutions. Your expertise in product visioning, product strategy, product design, and the delivery and monetization of current and future Merchant products is critical to Zip’s current and future ability to win and retain Merchants. The Senior Director–Merchant Products will oversee every element of Merchant products from their conceptualization to launch and post-launch performance. The Senior Director–Merchant Products is broadly responsible for the building of great merchant products that add sustainable value in terms of revenue and profits for the Zip business.


You’ll also

  • Work with business leaders, designers, user researchers, engineers, data scientists and other PMs to define and launch our next wave of innovative capabilities, with a focus on creating uniquely Zip Co and bar-raising omnichannel merchant experiences across markets.
  • Define programs for A/B testing production features to validate the effectiveness and drive iterative improvement post-launch.
  • Understand merchant journeys online and in the physical world. Demonstrate familiarity with device and operating system capabilities and how they can unlock innovative use cases.
  • Define programs for prototyping, user-testing and creating MVPs to allow us to intelligently manage risk in new features.
  • Work with engineering leads on planning and sprint processes.
  • Partner with North American leadership especially in Payments, Decisioning (Credit Risk) to drive tangential growth for the business.
  • Align merchant product roadmap development with consumer experience objectives and business needs, working cross-functionally with internal stakeholders including marketing, creative, sales, legal, regulatory, sales, customer service, integrations, and operations in addition to merchant partners.
  • Own the development and execution of a product roadmap that addresses new customer and revenue growth opportunities head-on.
  • Hire and manage a team of PMs to develop new features and capabilities.
  • Possess a deep understanding small business (e-commerce and in-store) needs, partnering closely with sales and account management and how we can deliver game-changing outcomes.


About you

  • Demonstrated leadership skills with a rich blend of analytical, creative, and strategic talents to effectively communicate, motivate, and inspire cross-functional teams with professionalism and clarity.
  • 12+ years experience in more progressive Product Management positions, with 5+ years in a Product leadership role in a fast-moving, global reaching, continuously evolving ecommerce or fintech business defined by demanding merchants, with products and platforms architected for scalability, low latency, high reliability, and high security.
  • Expertise with clear successes in defining and analyzing product metrics; thinking strategically; and knowing when and how to apply each in order to influence the success of product/platform opportunities.
  • Possess outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience includes multiple, highly successful, end-to-end omnichannel product experiences focused on merchants and B2B, B2C, D2C.
  • You demonstrate superior problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • Possess diverse experiences in the fields of product marketing, management, and communications with experience resolving daily internal and external problems and challenges in product management positions that affect a product’s financial and market success.
  • You are known for your ability to conceptualize, prioritize, and manage multiple projects.
  • You are significantly detail oriented.
  • You are known for regularly engaging customers and providing these connections to the rest of the company.

The Pay Range for this position: $225,000 - $310,000 USD based on the industry benchmark for position, function, level and Zip's compensation strategies. However, actual base salary will depend on varying circumstances and individualized factors, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to those same considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a bonus and/or equity awards, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits. If hired, employee will be in an 'at-will position' and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
