Position Summary

The Payment Posting Specialist II performs basic payment posting processes with minimal supervision and handles some specialized payment situations, as assigned, under general supervision.

Position Key Accountabilities

• Works on special projects as assigned.
• Resolves any edits and reports issues in a timely and accurate manner.
• Accurately posts all assigned manual and electronic payments to patient accounts.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Works zero-dollar Explanation of Benefits (EOBs) as assigned.
• Reconciles payments on a daily basis prior to the end of each shift.
• Processes and posts credit card payments.

Certification/Skills

Knowledge and understanding of insurance benefits and medical terminology is a plus. Must be comfortable interacting with others in an office environment. Must have strong critical thinking skills. Ability to work independently without close supervision. Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills; excellent phone and computer skills.

Minimum Education

High School Diploma/GED

Minimum Experience

2 years of experience with revenue cycle processes. May substitute required experience with equivalent years of education beyond the minimum education requirement.

Physical Requirements

Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.
