GLIDE is approaching this important moment in its history by bringing in a set of team members with deep execution experience to work closely with our leadership team and Board of Directors. Guided by the vision outlined in GLIDE’s refreshed strategic plan, GLIDE Forward, this team will be tasked with evolving the organization and elevating its position in the community.
General Summary:
The Initiative Coach/Project Manager (Impact and Strategy) is a critical member of the Impact and Strategy team at GLIDE and reports directly to the Director of Strategy. Their primary responsibility includes providing project management and administration support as part of the Strategy Implementation Team focused on implementing and executing GLIDE Forward. They will also provide broader support on strategic planning processes and administration within the Impact and Strategy Team, and project management support on other strategic initiatives within the organization as needed. This role will require working with internal stakeholders and external partners to develop, execute, track, and manage initiatives related to GLIDE’s overall strategy and impact goals.
The Initiative Coach/Project Manager (Impact and Strategy) must be highly organized and adaptable, as well as be able to effectively prioritize projects and initiatives while working independently in a dynamic work environment. This is a roll-up-your-sleeves environment, and this person will be part of a small team focused on driving forward and successfully implementing key strategic initiatives.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Initiative Coaching for strategic initiatives (including, but not limited to implementing integrated services)
- Assist with data monitoring and reporting: Work with initiative leads to ensure consistent initiative tracking and reporting of KPIs, success metrics and milestones.
- Support initiative planning and development: Provide templates to initiative leads and support them in developing detailed charters for their initiatives (including detailed roadmaps and milestones for each initiative).
- Act as the key contact for initiative leads: Answer any questions or concerns of initiative leads; liaise with the broader Impact and Strategy Team to gain information to answer any questions and surface concerns as relevant.
Program Management (including, but not limited to implementing integrated services)
- Manage systems and processes: Support management of templates, processes, and methodologies related to the execution of GLIDE Forward to ensure consistency across initiatives; actively coach initiative leads on processes and methodologies.
- Initiative management: Provide project management and administrative support as part of the Strategy Implementation Team focused on executing GLIDE Forward and on other strategic initiatives as relevant.
- Support internal communications: Assist with communications and people engagement plan for GLIDE Forward as needed.
- Monitor KPIs and milestones: Coordinate and track initiatives from start to completion; actively flag upcoming milestones for each initiative to initiative leads and help them track initiative KPIs and success metrics.
- Progress reporting: Provide regular updates to the Strategy Implementation Team on the progress of each initiative at team meetings.
- Escalate issues and support solutioning: Surface potential blockers and risks to execution of initiatives (and potential impact on outcomes and timelines) with senior leaders in the Impact and Strategy team; liaise between the Impact and Strategy team and initiative leads on potential solutions and support initiative leads execute solutions as needed.
Other broader responsibilities:
- Support surge data asks: Action ad-hoc data asks for the Impact and Strategy team as needed.
- Provide analytical support: Conduct qualitative and quantitative analysis (e.g., accessing and summarizing data, contributing critical insights) to support Impact and Strategy leadership with their decision-making as needed.
- Support strategic planning: Support Impact and Strategy leadership team on strategic planning and executing initiatives as needed.
- Project management capability building: Coach GLIDE staff from other teams on project management to help build this capability across the organization as needed.
- Meeting preparation: Support preparation of materials for internal and external meetings as needed (typically in the form of PowerPoint presentations or reports).
- Process improvement: Proactively identify and support the adoption of opportunities to improve processes and systems within the Impact and Strategy team.
- Represent Impact and Strategy team: Attend internal and external meetings.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Track data and flag key deviations quickly and effectively for discussion.
- Effectively work collaboratively and horizontally with initiative leads to monitor and identify blockers in projects or initiatives; works vertically with rest of Strategy Implementation team to surface these blockers and propose solutions.
- Strong attention to detail and consistently produces accurate and professional work.
- Evaluate, improve and document workflow processes.
- Extrapolate, synthesize, and present data meaningfully and accurately.
- Commitment to the mission, values, and philosophy of GLIDE.
- Present information in a clear and diplomatic manner to a variety of internal and external GLIDE stakeholders.
- Demonstrate curiosity and a commitment to learning.
- Strong proficiency in internet research and MS Office Suite (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Outlook); experience with project management software (e.g., Asana) and Adobe Acrobat Professional.
- Work effectively and respectfully with people from different backgrounds.
- Prioritize work and multi-task within specific timelines and manage competing deadlines.
- Bachelor’s degree and 3+ years’ experience working in project management and program admin.
- Experience supporting strategic planning processes a plus.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification a plus but not required.
- Interpret and analyze statistical data and other data found in reports.
- Effectively use tools and processes to monitor projects or initiatives are moving in the right direction; highly organized and able to oversee multiple concurrent projects or initiatives to completion; experience achieving project goals while managing scope, time, quality, and risk.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work; can resolve conflict effectively with patience and tact.
- Experience working in a non-profit environment or community-based social service agency focused on supported unhoused or marginalized communities is a plus.
- Strong proofreading skills and ability to use PowerPoint effectively to develop presentations.
