We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced HR/Payroll Specialist to join our team in the construction industry. As an HR/Payroll Specialist, you will be responsible for managing and processing all aspects of payroll, and human resources, and assisting with benefits administration. You will play a crucial role in ensuring that our employees are paid accurately and on time, while also providing exceptional HR support to our team. This is a full-time position. You will be reporting to the Accounting Manager and be included with the Accounting Team.
Qualifications
2+ years of experience in payroll processing and human resources are required.
Strong knowledge of payroll processing, tax laws, and regulations.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong work ethic and a positive attitude.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.
Experience with QuickBooks Payroll and QuickBooks Time (T-Sheets).
Experience using Construction or Payroll Software Programs (Sage Preferred).
Ability to process and manage payroll in a confidential manner.
Knowledge of Prevailing Wage Law and Certified Payroll Reporting is preferred.

Responsibilities
Payroll
Process Weekly payroll for all employees accurately and on time, including calculating and entering hours worked, overtime, fringe benefits, and other payroll related.
Review timecards with Accounting Manager and Project Manager.
Track Employee miles with GPS programs.
Manage wage garnishments and other payroll-related deductions, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.
Stay up to date on changes to payroll laws and regulations and ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
Maintain timekeeping system with accurate project codes and pay/bill rates.
Researches and implements payroll tax requirements as needed.
Performs additional tasks as directed.
Generate payroll reports for Public Works Contracts, DIR, and Prevailing Wages.
Generate payroll reports for Electrical Application Program.
Review and file Quarterly and Year-End Tax Reports (ie: 941, W-2’s, etc.)
Performs other duties assigned.
Human Resources
Manage and maintain employee records, including new hire paperwork, employee files, and benefit enrollment forms.
Assist with new hire processing and orientation, including conducting background checks and verifying employment eligibility.
Participate in various HR workflows (such as but not limited to I-9 forms, EEO tracking, employee benefit programs, workers' compensation claims, unemployment forms, COBRA administration, etc.) by compiling, filing, and distributing appropriate electronic and physical paperwork.
Administer FMLA and other leave programs, including tracking employee absences and ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.
Maintain employee handbooks and other HR policies and procedures.
Provide exceptional customer service to employees, answering questions and resolving issues related to payroll, benefits, and other HR matters.
Stay up to date on changes to HR laws and regulations and ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
Conducts audits of benefits, personnel files, or other HR programs and recommends corrective action. Implements corrective actions as directed.
Coordinate company events related to employees and new hires.
Performs other duties assigned.
