About GLS
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Responsible for working with Leadership to maintain positive relations and assist in solving people concerns.
- Assist Recruiting team with job fairs/career events to promote employment opportunities and attract talent.
- Prepare various reports as requested.
- Assist Leave and Compliance Manager on projects and Leave programs.
- Unemployment: Processes and responds to Unemployment Claims, Employment Verifications and Record Requests for Freight division
- Maintain and oversee creating electronic payroll and personnel files for Freight division.
- Assist in creating training documents, job aids and training manuals for HR, Payroll and Safety processes
- Assist with other HR team members to identify best practices.
- Maintain employee confidence and protect operations by keeping HR information confidential.
- Assist Benefit Administrator with annual open enrollment process, as requested.
- Acts as a representative of the Company and the HR department by setting the example in all areas of conduct, professionalism and adherence to policy.
- Coordinate and administer team member events and activities.
- Maintain technical knowledge by attending education seminars/workshops; reviewing publications.
- Assists with miscellaneous requests and projects as assigned by the HR Director and Sr. HR Manager
- Provide administrative assistance to the HR functions which includes creating, maintaining and up-dating documents, reports and records.
- Assists Benefits Administrator on projects or employee communication with newly eligible employees.
- HRIS: Tracks and administers New Hire processing, pay changes, promotions and status changes HRIS/payroll system for the Freight division.
- Maintain and create spreadsheets, including developing, entering, formatting, printing information, filing, and archiving in accordance with company policy and procedures.
- Administrator employee communications through Community board.
- Ensure compliance with existing state and federal government employment laws.
- Leads and/or participates in company-wide projects as assigned
- Partners with operations leadership on new business start-up and peak season staffing plans
- Strong ethical standards
- Other duties as required and assigned
- Demonstrated ability to effectively sequence and prioritize work
- Experience analyzing and interpreting data
- Ability to independently solve problems and make decisions
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with all levels in the organization
- Effective at building relationships with all areas of the company

- Knowledge of federal, state and local labor regulations
- Demonstrated ability to effectively challenge, influence and build collaborative relationships, to exemplify direct, open, honest behaviors, and to influence these qualities in others
- AA Degree preferred
- A minimum of 2 years' experience in an HR Assistant role
- Experience providing HR support in a logistics environment ~ Preferred
- Experience balancing virtual and in-person HR support
- Experience with HRIS Systems and Talent Acquisition Systems (Paylocity and ApplicantPro) are a plus
- Ability to work a flexible schedule as business needs dictate
