Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced General Manager to join our innovative biotech company. The General Manager will play a crucial role in overseeing the product and commercial operations of the company, with a specific focus on healthcare data products and business development in the pharmaceutical and rare disease sectors. This leadership position requires exceptional strategic thinking, strong business acumen, and a deep understanding of the biotechnology industry. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving the company's growth and success in these specialized areas across both commercial and product functions including commercial strategy, P&L responsibility, product roadmap, budget management and overall ownership of data products.
Responsibilities:
Strategic Planning and Execution:
  • Drive the execution of the strategic vision by collaborating with cross-functional teams and ensuring alignment with corporate goals.
  • Own overall P&L for these products including commercial strategy and execution, product roadmap and development, and other related functions across finance and operations.
  • Develop and implement the company's strategic plans and initiatives for product development and commercial operations, with a specific focus on healthcare data products leveraging Invitae’s broad genetic data assets and market reach
Healthcare Data Product Development and Management:
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including data scientists, researchers, and software developers, to ensure the successful delivery of high-quality data products.
  • Identify market needs and trends, and integrate customer feedback to drive product enhancements and improvements.
  • Oversee the development and management of healthcare data products, including data analytics platforms, patient databases, and real-world evidence solutions.
Pharma and Rare Disease Commercial Business Development:
  • Lead the business development efforts in the pharmaceutical and rare disease sectors, forging strategic partnerships and collaborations to drive revenue growth and market expansion.
  • Identify potential opportunities for commercializing healthcare data products in these sectors, including market research, competitive analysis, and identification of target customers.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including pharmaceutical companies, research organizations, and advocacy groups.
Commercial Operations:
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful implementation of commercial initiatives and the achievement of sales targets.
  • Develop and execute effective marketing and sales strategies tailored to the unique needs of these sectors.
  • Lead the commercial operations team, including marketing, sales, and business development, to drive revenue growth and market penetration in the pharmaceutical and rare disease sectors.
Financial Management:
  • Conduct thorough market analysis and competitor assessments to identify growth opportunities and market trends in the pharmaceutical and rare disease sectors.
  • Make data-driven decisions to optimize profitability and ensure long-term sustainability.
  • Drive financial success by developing and managing budgets, forecasting sales and revenue, and monitoring financial performance related to healthcare data products and commercial business development.
Team Leadership and Development:
  • Foster a high-performance culture by providing strong leadership, guidance, and mentorship to the product and commercial teams.
  • Recruit, develop, and retain top talent, promoting a collaborative and innovative work environment.
  • Set clear performance expectations, conduct performance evaluations, and provide ongoing feedback to team members.
Qualifications:
  • Exceptional strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Demonstrated success in driving revenue growth and achieving sales targets in the pharmaceutical and rare disease sectors.
  • Strong business acumen, including financial management and budgeting skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Proven track record of at least 10 years in a leadership role within the biotech or pharmaceutical industry, with specific experience in healthcare data products and commercial business development.
  • Strong understanding of product development processes and commercialization strategies in the biotech sector, particularly in relation to healthcare data products.
  • Experience in working with genomics and real world evidence solutions
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., biology, biotechnology, business administration), advanced degree preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels.

This salary range is an estimate, and the actual salary may vary based on a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience and location. This position is eligible for benefits including but not limited to medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability coverage, flexible paid time off, Spring Health, Carrot Fertility, participation in a 401k with company match, ESPP, and many other additional voluntary benefits. California Pay Range
$194,000—$238,600 USD
