United Talent Agency, a leading talent agency based in Beverly Hills, CA, is seeking a Head of Data Platforms for our UTA Ventures group. The Head of Data Platforms is a hands-on role that will work with the broader UTA Ventures, Technology and Data Science teams and is responsible for defining products, analyzing the competitive landscape, and providing data insights along with supportive data to business teams across UTA Ventures to help shape our strategic investments across our venture, private equity and brand investments and develop a world class data pipeline for platform level data analytics to support our investments and brands
The salary range for this role is $225,000 to $250,000 commensurate with experience and skills.
What You Will Do

• Prepare Material and Presentations. Create and communicate presentations and other materials related to key strategic initiatives and industry trends.
• Conduct Research & Analysis. Understand key industry sectors, trends and news within specific categories identified by the UTA Ventures team to identify high value datasets; ingest and modeling of data sources acquired through third party APIs, web crawlers and flat files to collect differentiated data
• Data Ownership: Own the Ventures data platform through partnership with technology and data science. This could include research tools and licensed data sources and first-party data from our portfolio companies, social media, and other sources. Design processes and write code to ingest, extract, transform and load (ETL) data into a data repository. Contribute to the development of data and ML frameworks, tools, skills and culture
• Set and Manage Benchmarks: Working closely with Ventures team to define key deliverables, benchmarks and evolve the platform over time. The ideal candidate will understand industry benchmarks and monitor data pipeline to ensure data quality.
• Develop and Maintain Reporting Systems: Design and develop data models and produce ongoing and recurring reports for internal use by business teams including dashboards, ML and reporting
• Analysis & Storytelling. Translates complex data into insights and compelling stories and cross-references data sets to offer comprehensive insights and analyses, providing practical, business-oriented, and actionable findings and recommendations.
• Translate Key Goals into Actionable Products: Understand key focus areas of UTA Ventures and work collaboratively with stakeholders to build products and reports that provide actionable insights. This role will be responsible for building a data foundation to perform data analytics and insight for new brand development opportunities through the UTA Ventures team and identify high value datasets for finding and evaluating investments across venture, private equity and incubations.

What You Need

• Experience working with unstructured and ambiguous datasets
• Comfortable working with multiple stakeholders across the organization to define and build actionable products
• Detailed and organized. Effectively tracks and follows-up on all facets of the role including key projects.
• Strong Verbal and Written Communication Skills. Can effectively communicate an opportunity or position to a wide variety of stakeholders including executives, agents, talent, managers, and lawyers.
• Experience with event tracking and analytics tools such as Segment, Google Analytics, etc.
• 5 - 6+ years experience and proficiency in Python, SQL, batch ETL, data modeling
• Experience in areas like Operations Analytics, Supply Chain Analytics and Marketing Analytics
• Familiarity with REST, web services, and cloud environments (AWS/Azure)
• Excellent academic track record from top-tier university
• B.S./B.A. Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Math, Statistics, Economics or related field, or equivalent practical experience. Master’s degree is preferred
• Strong passion for entrepreneurship
• Experience in summarizing analysis into succinct written briefs/presentations
• Knowledge of and ability to stay current on industry and technology trends along with the ability to quickly learn new tools and software.
• Passion. A love for media, culture, and talent. They follow creators on social media, consume the latest brands and movies, and are naturally curious.
• Experience in data mining to extract information from data sets and identify correlations and patterns
• Grit. A self-starter who loves what they do. They never give up. They can think creatively about market opportunities and push hard to achieve their goals.
• Knowledge of venture capital, private equity, media, culture, and start-ups
• Experience in SQL for complex querying, analysis, performance optimization, and persisting data
• Ability to engage with clients, agents, management, legal and senior leadership
• Familiarity with data analysis and machine learning (such as with R, Python) writing, managing and deploying code
• Team player, proactive, results-oriented, problem-solver, strategic thinker, highly organized, flexible, strong analytical skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Comfort with high volumes of unstructured and structured data, with the ability to leverage multiple datasets to draw both granular and big picture conclusions
• Familiarity with Apache Airflow
