EdOps’s Finance Team Executive Director position is ideal for an established leader ready to shape our nationwide finance offering and bring their expertise to our high quality support of schools and. The Finance Team Executive Director oversees the strategic direction and delivery of our finance & accounting scope of work for 70+ charter schools across multiple regions (Washington, DC, Louisiana, and Maryland), as well as the ~60 EdOps staff providing that support. The Executive Director is responsible for setting the overall strategic vision and direction for the team, monitoring overall quality of our service delivery to ensure our finance offering is meeting EdOps’s mission. The Finance Team Executive Director reports to the CEO and has Director- and Manager-level staff reporting to them.

What you will do:
- Organizational Design: Implement and improve a service line organizational model that balances national oversight with the needs of regional leadership in major markets served.
- Service Quality & Consistency: Responsible for the oversight and service delivery of our finance services support to 70+ schools. Lead efforts to standardize internal finance and accounting support processes, when appropriate.
- Team Culture and Climate: Support a collaborative, supportive and inclusive culture through own action and manager coaching.
- Quality Improvement: Drive team to set up processes to monitor, understand and reflect on current processes and ensure that quality and efficiency continue to improve.Possibly lead internal projects to improve quality and analysis to schools.
- Team Management & Development: Serve as primary leader to several manager-of-managers staff members who provide oversight to national staff of ~60 employees.
- Service Line Executive: Primary decision-maker within the service line for policy, staffing, and organizational design issues.
- Product Development: Oversee or contribute to the development of and refinement of products and tools that enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of team support to schools.
What you will accomplish:
By Year 1 you will:
- Lead a strong team to deliver on our mission to minimize the financial, operational, and compliance demands of running a school and to support education leaders with data-driven insights to improve student outcomes for school leaders at over 70+ schools.
- Set priorities for the team, determining goals and areas to improve while managing them to completion. In particular, set quarterly goals and KPIs for direct reports and hold them accountable to attaining them.
- Deeply understand the needs of our diverse clients and teams.
- Partner with the other service line leadership and EdOps leadership to problem solve company-wide challenges.
- Manage tricky client situations that get escalated.
By Year 3 you will:
- Contribute to the development and implementation of processes, tools and approaches to enhance our product offering and staff experience.
- Significantly improve the processes and outputs of the Finance Team to make sure that we are offering consistent high quality service in an efficient way.

- Care about education and outcomes for students as much as you care about budgets, forecasts and efficient financial processes.
What you need:
- Strong quantitative analysis, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills. Part of EdOps’s mission is to support school leaders with data-driven insights, and we endeavor to make decisions driven by data on our own leadership team, as well.
- Comfort overseeing strategic delivery of a product offering. Prior experience as a service provider for schools is valued.
- Experience and expertise in managing large teams through layers, including prior experience managing managers-of-managers. Track record of creating strong cultures on high-performing teams.
- At least 3 years experience excelling in a strategic leadership role at an not-for-profit or for-profit education organization.
- Experience with and excitement about goal setting and monitoring towards those goals.
- Knowledge of finance and accounting (especially non profit).
- Excellent written communication skills. We make a lot of decisions after writing memos here.
- General comfort with technology systems (e.g., Google suite) because we are not big fans of paper around here at EdOps.
- Typically, a Finance Team Executive Director has more than 15 years of work or post-secondary educational experience.
