Finance Director Opportunity - £90,000 to £100,000 + Bonus/Car Allowance & Bens. Hybrid/Colchester

Our client is a market leading international design, manufacturing and sales business with strong ESG commitments and a track record of delivering excellence; in its cutting edge design, quality products, innovative solutions and excellent customer service. Due to continued growth they are looking to recruit a talented Finance Director to take ownership for finance and IT, & drive business agenda, & act as finance partner to the Managing Director.
Your new role
The Finance Director will be accountable for the financial and compliance performance for UK Entity, Holding Company and International businesses. You will be relentless in your focus to achieve agreed, SLAs, KPI's, budgets and goals to help deliver a progressive and comprehensive growth and business plan.
Key Responsibilities:
Business Finance Activities
- Provide Financial Planning and Analysis leadership to the UK Management team to deliver financial targets for the year and also the business plan with a focus upon EBITDA and cash generation.
- Lead business financial agenda, organising the operating reviews.
- Facilitate monthly review process of sales segments and margins, operations, sourcing and R&D, providing coordination and leadership within the team.
- Analyse the variances (vs LY and vs budget and forecast) related to Sales and Plant activities; provide reports to give insight as to performance to enable financially based decision making.
- Educate and inform the teams of 'status of performance vs budget / forecast and last year through timely, accurate and appropriate reporting. Lead educate & communication on operating financials & cash targets.
- Identify gaps vs initial business plans and recommend actions supported by analysis.
- Work closely with the MD to understand the business drivers and provide support for risks and opportunities.
- Provide leadership for the Finance Team which is organised between Management Accounting and Financial Accounting, including Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable.
- Ensure through appropriate commercial controls that the business implements appropriate commercial terms with its customers, in both the UK and internationally, and then lead the review process to highlight and action, together with the commercial leadership, areas of improvement/concern to guarantee the success of the business.
- Functional leadership of the IT Team headed up by IT Manager providing support to the business.
Accounting and Reporting
- Ensure greater control of finances and decisions through consistent and active involvement in business decisions.
- Ensure on-time and accurate reporting minimising manual work with automated processes.
- Ensure that the routines & controls for the entities are in place to close every month. Actively participate with group cash management at entity level with focus on DSO, DIO and DPO.
- Ensure and demonstrate that initiatives are delivering shareholder value through effective financial analysis, for example ROI, Payback, NPV
- Ensure compliance with Group accounting rules and IFRS leading to no audit issues.
- Oversee the audits and statutory filings for all entities, including the holding company.
- Reinforce local rules of delegation of authority or propose new ones if required.
- Ensure compliance with local laws and adherence to the Group Compliance model.
- Operate with complete integrity within the legal framework in all activities and in accordance with the Group Ethics Policy
Leadership & People Management Focus:
- Together with the leadership team, understand customer demands and through the strategic planning process define actions needed to improve performance. Engage with and cascade with manufacturing team in this process.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills and an ability to communicate complex business ideas.
- Developing talent and people to ensure we have the right people in the right place and robust succession planning.
- Organise annual appraisals and regular formal and informal performance feedback with staff & maintain organisation & discipline within manufacturing.
- Working closely with Functional Directors/Heads of Departments to ensure execution of process aligns with standard work and to the defined strategic direction of the Group.
- Ensure effective communications in support of cultural change, being pro-active.
- Supervise, coach, develop and provide leadership and direction to business leaders.
- Promote team working and communication. Define and assist in training and developing of staff.
What you'll need to succeed
The Finance Director will be a technically strong and commercially focused finance leader and qualified ACA/ACCA/CIMA/CPA Accountant. They will have demonstrable finance leadership experience within an international manufacturing business with multiple channels to market and ideally having exposure of working in a private equity environment.
