Job Description
Overview:
The Director Employee Relations will be responsible for oversight and management of the Employee Relations department, development, and improvement of programs related to conflict resolution, investigations, and policy/procedure guidance, all while ensuring compliance with employment laws and fostering a positive work environment. This role will report to the VP, Human Resources Field NA & Retail Strategy.

Responsibilities:
  • Collaborates with leadership on matters of policy and terms of memoranda of understanding before and throughout negotiation process.
  • Represents the organization in partnership with Legal on required depositions/ litigated matters.
  • Furthers the Diversity Inclusion and Belonging strategy, principles, and pillars.
  • Manages compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations across all North America locations.
  • Fosters positive employee relations by providing relevant business solutions, tools, and resources to support and positively shape the overall team member experience.
  • Manages the utilization of data and analytics to track and assess the impact of employee relations programs and initiatives.
  • Develops, maintains, and executes comprehensive employee relations strategies, policies, and programs aligned with the company's values, goals, and applicable laws and regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Analyzes information and data necessary to define and discern cost and policy implications of negotiations and disputes. This may include management proposals, wages, benefits, working conditions, and other mitigating circumstances.
  • Collaborates closely with HRBPs, and other business partners through a consultative approach to help assess organization effectiveness, recommendations, and develop and implement integrated action plans that increase employee engagement, performance, retention, and development.
  • Establishes and implements training and development programs to enhance skills and capabilities of our field leaders regarding employee relations best practices, strategies, conflict resolution, and respectful workplace conduct.
  • Collaborates with legal counsel on employment-related matters, government agency inquiries/complaints, and employment litigation matters to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Manages and coaches a team of field ER Mangers in support of their functional responsibilities within their assigned business areas.
  • Manages the employee relations case management system to review and track case progress and conduct investigatory interview process to ensure cases are managed effectively and efficiently.
Qualifications:
  • Proven ability to make judgment calls and sound, ethical decisions displaying a heightened level of responsibility, confidentiality, integrity, and professionalism.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of federal, state, provincial and local employment laws, and regulations.
  • Bachelor’s degree; and or applicable experience 7+ years in HR, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Proven history in a senior-level human resources leadership role.
  • SHRM/ HRCI/ other HR certification is a plus.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong leadership abilities with experience managing and developing a high-performing ER team.
  • Proficiency in analyzing ER metrics and utilizing data to inform decision-making.
  • Ability to assess sensitive and complex employee relations issues in a confidential, objective, and systematic manner.
  • Demonstrated success in developing and implementing effective HR policies and procedures.
Physical setting:
  • Remote w/ ability to travel as needed.
Schedule:
  • Monday to Friday, occasional weekends
Benefits:
The annual base salary range is $120000 - $140000. This range represents the anticipated low and high end of the salary for this position. This role is also eligible to receive short term incentives that align with individual and company performance. Salary will be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
