Position Summary
The Manager, Employee Relations will be responsible for developing, leading and implementing comprehensive employee relations strategies, processes and programs that fosters a positive and productive work environment. This role will provide counsel to HR colleagues and people managers to influence and gain alignment and support on a wide variety of employee relations issues and processes including workplace investigations, to create and sustain positive employee relations. The Manager, Employee Relations will lead workplace investigations in collaboration with HR Business Partners, Legal and Compliance as appropriate, making actionable recommendations.
Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Maintains current knowledge of laws, regulations, policies, best practices, and investigative methods regarding workplace investigations, organizational issues and employee misconduct.
  • Serves as subject matter expert and participates in special projects regarding employee relations matters;
  • Develops and manages staff including on‐boarding, training and development, performance management processes and building and maintaining employee morale and motivation.
  • Provide expert consultative, problem-solving services and training to managers, employees, HR and other internal partners regarding HR processes and practices such as talent and performance initiatives.
  • Collaborates with business leaders and key stakeholders to proactively identify issues, root causes and opportunities to mitigate risk. In collaboration with HR business partners, develops and implements employee relations interventions to ensure a consistent and comprehensive employee relations delivery experience.
  • Conducts needs assessment for fostering and furthering positive employee relations using a variety of data metrics to make critical decisions based on identified patterns, reports findings and trends and advises and trains managers in best employee relations practices and strategies.
  • Assess workplaces behaviors and data to identify risks and gaps in the work environment, and develop and execute sustainable, scalable initiatives and programs to affect organizational change.
  • Develops/delivers training as appropriate on employee relations issues, policies, processes and procedures.
  • Owns the end-to-end employee relations and workplace investigations process including conducting investigation interviews, gathering, analyzing and synthesizing data from multiple sources and summarizing investigation findings in clear, concise executive-level detail.
  • Defines, strategizes, and plans the scope of investigations and identifies all applicable parties to interview, including witnesses, affected and reporting parties and subject(s).
  • Responsible for facilitating improvements in HR practices and procedures
  • Independently own and successfully lead projects that improve the HR partnership experience.

  • Bachelor’s degree required in HR or related field
  • Education:
  • Work Experience:
  • 3 years’ supervisory experience required
  • Minimum of 7 years' work experience that includes employee relations, conducting workplace investigations and significant employee relations consultatation
  • Certification/Licensure:
  • PHR/SPHR or CP/SCP certification is a plus
  • Possess strong analytical skills and experience to research and Interpret data
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills (oral and written).
  • Demonstrated experience in defining and implementing detailed ER business processes.
  • Skilled in conveying facts, analysis, conclusions, and recommendations in a clear and concise manner.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse populations at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to multi-task with ease while continuously prioritizing urgent needs first in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated skills and experience in analytical and legal writing to produce accurate reports and summaries.
  • Strong project management and critical thinking skills, including proven problem-solving and planning skills.
  • Proven strengths in negotiation, influencing, analysis, and problem solving.
  • Experience using case management tool
  • Strong investigative experience including in-person interviewing and investigation.
  • Experience and interest in process improvement techniques and benchmarking. Ability to identify and analyze trends from a variety of data sources.
  • Experience in designing and delivering successful training programs
  • Knowledge and Technical Skills:
  • A reputation for discretion, integrity, judgment, responsiveness, strong attention to detail and quality.
  • Experienced in managing, mentoring and developing HR practitioners
  • Knowledge of employment regulations across multiple jurisdictions
Language Skills
  • Ability to read, write and speak English proficiently
