Job Description

Stanford University Human Resources (UHR) is seeking an Employee & Labor Relations Administrator to assist the Employee & Labor Relations team in all facets of employee relations and labor relations. The Employee & Labor Relations Administrator will act as the first point of contact for most employee and labor relations inquiries and serve as a resource on policies, procedures, and practices. The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, ability to work with a team as well as independently, and manage the details of employee and labor relations administrative processes (e.g., terminations, grievances, information requests, unemployment claims, meeting coordination, and website updates). This position is located at our new Stanford Redwood City Campus, 505 Broadway, Redwood City, California.

JOB PURPOSE:

Administer, support, and manage programs or functions under general supervision.

CORE DUTIES*:

  • Collect and analyze HRIS data, create reports, review and explain trends for compliance, audit, and metrics purposes; formulate and evaluate alternative solutions and/or recommendations to achieve the goals of the program or function.
  • Organize and/or participate in conferences, seminars, events, and negotiations. Perform associated duties including arranging services with vendors, producing and distributing materials, administering logistics, and managing event within budget. May monitor and approve expenditures.
  • Independently implement, administer and evaluate all details of employee relations activities (transactions and documentation) in collaboration with the Employee & Labor Relations team, including terminations, information requests, grievances and unemployment claims. Act as key contact.
  • Compose, maintain, modify, and/or ensure accuracy of employee and labor relations content in university documents, reports, and/or websites.
  • Analyze and interpret university policies and collective bargaining agreements; develop, revise and implement procedures for university-wide employee and labor relations activities and programs.
  • Serve as a resource for university employees on employee and labor relations issues, effectively communicate and explain policies, procedures, and practices. Answer policy questions and help resolve issues as appropriate and/or coordinate with Employee & Labor Relations team member or school/business unit.
  • Provide administrative support for Employee & Labor Relations staff, such as meeting logistics, union support work, website updates, document preparation, and recordkeeping. Maintain Employee & Labor Relations electronic recordkeeping system. Manage the Associate Vice President of Employee & Labor Relations’ calendar and coordinate meetings on behalf of the ELR team.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education & Experience:

Bachelor’s degree and three years of relevant experience, or combination of education and relevant experience.

The expected pay range for this position is $64,480 to $120,000 per annum.
Stanford University provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for a position. The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, geographic location and external market pay for comparable jobs.
