About the XFL

The XFL is a fan-first, fast-paced global professional football league with innovative rules and an enhanced 360-degree game experience. Anchored in world-class football, the XFL brings entertainment and innovation to advance the sport, expand player opportunities, and change the way that fans experience the game. The XFL has eight teams in Arlington, TX, Houston, TX , Las Vegas, NV, Orlando, FL, San Antonio, TX, Seattle WA, St. Louis MO, and Washington D.C.. The XFL is owned by Dany Garcia, Dwayne Johnson, and Gerry Cardinale’s RedBird Capital Partners and launched in February 2023.


About the Position

The XFL is seeking a Director, Performance Marketing to join our Marketing & Brand team. This role will report to our Sr Director of Marketing and lead all performance marketing efforts for the League and its eight (8) teams. This role joins a team heavily focused on all digital levers, including search marketing, content, programmatic, display, email, social, marketplace and affiliate marketing channels.

What you will do

  • Evaluate new partners and growth opportunities as needed/they arise.
  • Develop and execute plans to optimize ROI on strategic digital investments.
  • Build and manage all paid media campaigns to support advertising needs of the entire league with focus on driving ticket sales for all eight (8) teams.
  • Provide detailed dashboards and/or reports identifying paid mediums per team/market and tracking systems for awareness.
  • Work with the Marketing department to outline, plan and program advertising in conjunction with Salesforce Marketing Cloud emails for marketing initiatives like major team announcements, merchandise sales, fan engagement opportunities, etc.
  • Manage analytics reporting across digital advertising, website, email marketing, and promotional events.
  • Work with various departments to maximize synergies across the organization to support business objectives for marketing and fan experience purposes.
  • Work closely with Content, Creative and other internal departments to manage and optimize advertising campaigns on owned digital channels as well as television, radio broadcast, team website, in-game entertainment.
  • Generate performance and campaign recap reports based on advertising and select marketing campaigns and occasional marketing emails.
  • Work closely with team VP’s and personnel to identify local market opportunities in each city.

What you will bring:

  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills
  • Ability & drive to take ownership of projects, including personal development/skills required to excel in the role.
  • Ability to personally deliver large scale initiatives in a fast-paced environment with high levels of complexity and ambiguity
  • Professional experience with traditional advertising platforms like television, radio, print, billboards, etc.
  • 10+ years of experience of acquisition marketing and performance/growth marketing
  • Strong written communication skills and proven success in copywriting
  • Experience in delivering successful end-to-end digital programs or campaigns, from concept to execution to reporting and optimization
  • Ability to collaborate proactively with multiple departments across the company and its multiple lines of business.
  • Willingness to be deep in the details while also being able to create and communicate higher level strategy
  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, business or other related field or relevant experience required.
  • Strong analytical skills with consultative approach. Capability to transform online KPI data into actionable insights and execute upon them; demonstrated experience using KPIs/web analytics to impact digital business
  • Experience providing hands on analysis and recommendations in the areas of SEO/SEM, programmatic, display, paid social, affiliate marketing, marketplace management and other e-commerce fundamentals
  • Experience working directly with advertising agencies a plus
  • Ability to communicate and interact effectively with both technical and non-technical team members
  • Experience leading an in-house performance marketing team or managing multiple media buying agencies to support ticket transactional marketing.


Additional Details

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Primarily works in a remote office and/or an office environment but may include attending select games and events in XFL team markets.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule inclusive of weekends, nights and holidays required.
  • Minimal Travel (<10% travel): May be required to travel.
  • Please note, the location of this role is flexible.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
