The Director, Strategic Planning uses data, analytics, consumer research, market conditions and consumer shopper behavior to identify the business challenge, the business opportunity, and a recommended strategy for brands needing or wanting to build their connection and relevance with consumers.
This role will own understanding the consumer journey for assigned clients and how that translates into brand strategies, targeting and messaging. This role will be an integral part of the agency, working closely with our data teams, client leads, creative, and the media team to ensure that the agency is bringing best in class approach to consumer insights for assigned clients. In addition, when needed, this role will also work in the acquisition and development of new business pitches.
The strategist responsibilities include analyzing consumer business dynamics, uncovering consumer behavior insights, crafting direction and briefs for messaging and creative, and developing content messaging architectures. To be successful in this role you will need:

JOB RESPONSIBLITIES:
Responsibilities include analyzing business dynamics, uncovering consumer behavior insights, crafting direction and briefs for messaging and creative, and developing content messaging architectures.
- Primary and secondary research experience
- Develop UX strategies and digital consumer journies
- You will be responsible for the consumer and cultural relevance of the brand and campaign communication strategies that inform creative, providing insights and truths that inspire great work.
- You are able to present research, insights, and strategy in client and new business meetings in compelling ways.
- Analyze existing client strategies/go to market plans and provide recommendations for improvement relevant to multicultural consumers
- Examine specific marketing issues, as requested.
- You operate in real time, and are collaborative.
- Understand digital behaviors across web, digital, apps and email channels
- You’re responsible for generating strategies that are rigorous and smart, yet wholly relatable.
- Requires the ability to take a project from request to completion and meet deadlines.
- Assist in providing direction for various projects.
- Strong advocacy for the consumer point-of-view within agency and client teams.
- You will work with art directors, copywriters, developers and other internal teams to ideate and develop concepts for projects that range from social to experiential to video.
- You must love writing clear, succinct creative briefs.
- Work with data and analytics team to plan multicultural consumer strategies
- Generate strategic insights to address consumer behaviors or challenges and craft them into presentations and briefs to Agency and Clients, inclusive of developing specific multicultural category analysis and strategies.
- Ability to work with cross functional teams in a proactive and cooperative manner.
- You deeply understand our brands’ consumers, commercial and cultural contexts.
- Strong skills/adept with analytic software – ability to learn new analytic tools
- Use internal agency methodologies, frameworks, and tools to develop consumer insights, business analysis, shopping behavior analysis and generate strategic insights and recommendations
- Craft industry relevant content and communication plan recommendations based upon developed multicultural strategies
- You understand a large worldview and culture dynamics, but you can quickly get to the practical.
QUALIFICATIONS
- A strong ‘self-starter’ mentality and sense of responsibility.
- Willing to work hours as required by workload, plus ability to travel as needed.
- Passion for creativity, advertising and innovation.
- Bachelor’s degree
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with a great attention to detail.
