Director Commodity - Project Management Office

Job Details:

The primary responsibility of the Director of Commodity Project Management Office is to lead a team of technical specialists to maintain, develop, and innovate and digitize the Commodity Group’s processes, systems, and analytics to deliver data-driven insights enterprise-wide. This role will plan, coordinate and direct PMO activities across internal and external resources to achieve optimal support of business leaders through clear information for decision making and optimal financial and physical supply chain performance through efficient and resilient systems. This role is a mix of leadership and technical thought leadership providing guidance mentoring and leadership to a team of individual contributors and Sr. Managers while actively participating in the development of strategy.

The leader in this role will partner closely with other Commodity Business Pillar functions (procurement, trading, elevators, sustainability) as well as other key IT and business stakeholders’ executives. This role is highly strategic and critical to the continued development and advancement of the Tyson Foods. This role leads a team of ~10-15 team members ranging from specialists in IT, to accounting, to energy procurement, trading, and supply chain management, to clerical and intern groups and is a critical service provider within the CPG team and other adjacent groups.

Other responsibilities include:

• Owning the project and technology roadmap
• Understand and ensure compliance to controls standards and methodology
• Coordination of critical system support
• Establishment / maintenance of priority initiatives for systems, reporting, and process improvements including the business case evaluation process for ROIC and risk/opportunity
• Establish strategic and tactical goals policies and procedures to drive desired organizational outcomes
• Be a trusted advisor to all CPG key stakeholder groups associated with IT initiatives and reporting providing advice guidance and insights
• Align and drive the organizations strategic goals and objectives in support of Vice President of Commodity Purchasing
• Oversee and facilitate the evaluation research and selection of system technology, group investment in new enabling products, as well as mapping the design of standard configurations required for business empowerment
• Define performance metrics and KPIs to drive productivity and effectiveness within the area of responsibility

Requirements:

Education/Certifications: Bachelor’s degree required. Advanced degrees or certifications specific to IT, project management, and commodity procurement are a plus

Experience: 10+ years’ experience in a related field (IT, PMO, Procurement) with demonstrated track record of successful cross-functional collaboration and impactful results

Computer Skills: Advanced computer skills required. Knowledge of systems, process optimization, and digitization a significant plus.

Communication Skills: Excellent communication and presentation skills required with the ability to interact and influence both across and up the organization.

Special Skills: Understanding of commodity procurement and risk management activities a plus

Supervisory: Responsible for managing ~10-15 team members ranging from SME in IT to procurement

Travel: 1-5 domestic trips annually
