Boyne Resorts is conducting a search to identify an accomplished Human Resources leader to serve as the company’s Chief Human Resources Officer, (CHRO), and to oversee the overall Human Resources efforts for Boyne Resorts. The current CHRO is transferring to a different role and will be available throughout the transition.
This position is critical to leading and guiding the company to meeting goals. As a strategic partner to the CEO and other senior leaders, you will provide guidance on people-related matters to drive organizational effectiveness, culture, and employee engagement at all our resorts.
As the Chief Human Resources Officer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the organization's culture, fostering employee engagement, and driving talent management strategies. Your expertise in HR practices and strategic leadership will contribute to the overall success of the company by assisting in building a high-performing and motivated workforce.
Boyne Resorts is a collection of mountain and lakeside resorts, ski areas, and attractions spanning from British Columbia to Maine. The company owns and operates thirteen properties and an outdoor lifestyle equipment/apparel retail division with stores in cities throughout Michigan, USA. An industry leader in operations that include Snowsports and year-round mountain recreation, golf, an indoor waterpark, spas, food, and beverage, lodging and real estate development.

Responsibilities
- Talent Acquisition and Management: Develop and drive effective recruitment and retention strategies to attract and retain a diverse and high-performing workforce. Collaborate with Resorts HR Directors to assist recruitment efforts and performance management efforts. Oversee performance and coaching, succession planning, and employee development initiatives.
- Employee Engagement and Culture: Foster a positive and inclusive work environment that reflects the company's values. Drive initiatives to enhance employee engagement, satisfaction, and overall employee experience. Strategize programs that promote a healthy work-life balance, recognition, and employee wellness.
- Compensation and Benefits: Oversee the design and administration of competitive and equitable compensation and benefits programs. Provide guidance on compensation strategies, salary benchmarking, and variable pay programs to attract and retain top talent.
- HR Policies and Compliance: Develop HR policies and procedures that align with legal and regulatory requirements. Encourage resorts to be up to date on relevant employment laws and industry trends to ensure the organization's HR practices remain current, fair, and compliant.
- Leadership and Team Development: Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to the HR teams. Foster a culture of continuous learning and professional development within the HR function. Encourage collaboration, accountability, and high performance among HR staff.
- Employee Relations: Oversee employee relations matters, including conflict resolution, disciplinary actions, and grievance procedures. Ensure fair and consistent application of HR policies and procedures. Act as a trusted adviser to employees and managers on HR-related issues.
- HR Analytics and Reporting: Utilize HR data and analytics to drive data-informed decision-making. Develop and track key HR metrics, reports, and dashboards to monitor the effectiveness of HR initiatives and identify areas for improvement.
Qualifications
- Ski Resort specific experience is a big advantage.
- Deep understanding of the resort, travel, and hospitality industries.
- Strong communication skills, clear and concise.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent leadership and people management skills.
- Professional certifications (e.g., SHRM-SCP, SPHR) are a plus.
- Extensive experience in HR leadership roles, including at least 10 years in a senior HR position.
- Shown to have overseen initiatives in coordination with remote team members who are not necessarily their direct (hard line) reports.
- Bachelor's degree is preferred.
- Persuasive influencer.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and influence key stakeholders.
- Proven experience in development and driving company culture.
- Experience in talent acquisition, performance management, employee engagement, and organizational development.
- Extensive management, organizational and interpersonal skills.

- Self-assured and results oriented.
- Strong knowledge of HR best practices, employment laws, and regulations.
- Proven track record of developing and executing HR strategies that drive organizational success.
