Job Description

American Pledge Foundation LLC, a pioneering start-up in the affordable housing lending sector, is seeking an experienced and visionary Chief Operating Officer (COO) to join our team. Our mission is to address homeownership inequality and affordability challenges in the current housing market by providing an alternative to traditional mortgage down payment assistance programs. We support high loan-to-value (LTV) bank mortgage loans and offer counseling and financial assistance during homeowner hardships.

As the COO of American Pledge, you will play a pivotal role in driving our operational success. We are looking for an exceptional candidate with at least 7 years of experience in mortgage lending and a strong understanding of the Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) and Fair Lending regulations. This knowledge is crucial to ensure compliance and guide our operations effectively.

Responsibilities:

·Develop and execute operational strategies: Create comprehensive strategies aligned with our mission and goals to drive the success of our initiatives and support business growth.

·Participate in business promotion efforts: Assist in creating effective strategies to increase brand awareness, forge strategic partnerships, and acquire customers. Utilize your industry knowledge and network to expand our reach.

·Manage teams for success: Provide strong leadership and guidance to cross-functional teams, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.

·Document work processes: Establish efficient processes and document standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistency and quality in our operations.

·Oversee staff functions: Take charge of recruitment, hiring, management, and development to support the professional growth of our team members.

·Establish performance metrics and reporting: Define key performance indicators (KPIs) and implement monitoring and control mechanisms to track operational success. Generate insightful reports for the executive team.

·Understand short-term and long-term priorities: Gain a deep understanding of our organization's immediate and long-term priorities. Contribute to strategic decision-making and resource allocation for growth and success.

·Lead during expansion: Demonstrate strong leadership skills and adaptability to guide the organization through periods of rapid growth. Manage resources, assess risks, and ensure operational efficiency.

·Risk management: Identify operational risks and develop strategies for mitigation. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, particularly CRA and Fair Lending regulations.

·Venture capital fundraising experience: Utilize your industry experience and network to support our fundraising efforts.

·Engage with venture capital firms, investors, and funding sources to secure investment for our growth.

Qualifications:

·This is an early business stage opportunity; entrepreneurial experience and spirit are a must.

·Bachelor's degree in business administration, finance, or a related field (master’s degree preferred).

·Minimum of 7 years of mortgage lending experience, with a strong understanding of CRA and Fair Lending regulations.

·Proven track record in senior management, preferably as a CEO, Founder, Chief of Staff, COO, CFO, etc.

·Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate teams.

·Excellent strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities.

·Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills – Diplomacy is essential.

·Non-profit leadership experience is a plus.

·Experience navigating government contracts and grants is preferred.

Compensation:

Base plus performance. We will consider equity for exceptional candidates. Please note that we are a for-profit company operating in a traditionally non-profit space. Base wages are in the very low 6-figure range.

Location:

Charleston, SC or Birmingham, AL. We will consider remote candidates with frequent travel for an exceptional candidate with depth of experience.
