Position Summary
The Martin’s Point Business and Application Analyst will support software applications utilized within Martin’s Point multiple business units. The Analyst will support the business and project objectives as directed. They will interact with various departments, including other IT teams, to ensure that their business partner’s systems meet departmental specifications and work collaboratively to ensure that the organization maximizes the value of the applications. An Business and Application Analyst will be responsible for troubleshooting issues for the applications and technologies for which they are assigned. They will stay current with technology, proposing new ideas for improving patient and member care through technology- based solutions. This role will responsible for installation/configuration, operation and maintenance of core business applications. The Analyst also monitors and reports on application performance; recommends upgrades or improvements and resolves application problems and offers support to users.

  • Monitors applications in partnership with other teams in IT.
  • Partners with key stakeholders to ensure alignment between the business units, IT and our vendors.
  • Solicits alignment in roadmaps with vendors and business partners in order to maintain supported versions of applications.
  • Implementation, configuration, maintenance, monitoring and support of MPHC applications is maximized to support business workflows.
  • Provides Tier 2 application support.
  • Demonstrates continuous efforts to improve operations, resolve incidents, streamline work procedures, and implement technical solutions to meet business requirements.
  • Partners with business to gather requirements, establishes priority and tests changes to internally developed applications.
  • Communicates application outages along with problem workarounds/resolutions to service desk staff and IT management in a timely manner.
  • Understands database table structures to write reports, queries and scripts to assist the business and ensure integrity of data.
  • Identifies application issues, troubleshoots and escalates appropriately.
  • Performs daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all applications, integrations and key processes.
  • Develops technical documentation, reference and training material as needed.
  • Acts as application administrator and server administrator where necessary and aligns with the system administrators and system engineers as needed.
  • Understands aspects of industry best practices and works closely with business partners to evaluate and introduce best practices into the environment.
Education/Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or equivalent combination of related education and experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in a healthcare or health plan/payor environment supporting related applications.
