Data Analyst (Remote) Jobs

This position can be Remote.

The Data Analyst will serve as a primary liaison between the data engineering and internal business clients, eliciting and managing requirements for corporate data warehouse, master data management, and data foundation initiatives. The person in this role facilitates requirements and acceptance criteria gathering as well as user acceptance testing. This person also completes data profiling and analysis, and data modeling. They might also do occasional development work like ETL pipeline development and SQL stored procedure crafting.

The Data Analyst is a key leader on the data engineering team, who also drives process improvements and can handle escalations or roadblocks related to data quality, support, or maintenance tasks for the enterprise data solutions. The candidate should thrive in a fast-moving, team-based environment, both working on and leading projects and solutions using various development methodologies while embodying the qualities of an experienced team player.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Support leadership of the team in various duties when and where needed
• Work with project managers and their teams to ensure sprint and release plans are successfully executed
• Participate in and foster a working environment where creativity, innovation, ownership and teamwork are encouraged and rewarded
• Create conceptual data models for the Data Engineers to execute against
• Gather and document requirements from both internal and external customers, analyzing and profiling datasets as needed
• Assist with identifying workflow and process gaps and issues
• Stay current on trends and information published by organizations and individuals who are leading and influencing the practice of Business Analysis, Data Analytics and Business Intelligence
• Review and create documentation, workflows, process flows, prototypes, mock-ups and other artifacts used to capture, communicate and align business requirements
• Drive a tenacious focus on quality in validating that what the team is building will meet the needs and demands of our customers
• Organize and conduct requirement reviews with stakeholders and development teams

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education And/or Experience

• Bachelor's or advanced degree in computer science, computer programming, computer engineering or related field preferred, or comparable job-related experience and training
• Minimum 3 years of business analyst experience in data engineering and/or data warehouse environment
• 5+ years of creating requirements documentation in agile or waterfall methodologies
• Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Communications, Information Systems, Business or an equivalent combination of education and comparable job-related experience and training

Certificates, License & Registrations

• Business analyst certification a plus

Competencies (Skills & Abilities)

• Effective communication in a simple, common language especially presenting to leadership and representing the organization externally (i.e. written and verbal)
• Lead with skills in self-organization and motivation in a remote setting
• Hands-on experience working with databases such as Snowflake and Microsoft SQL server (minimum 3 years of experience)
• Prior knowledge and understanding of reporting solutions such as Tableau, Power BI or some other enterprise reporting solution is a plus
• Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks while working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
• Data modeling (conceptual preferred, others a plus)
• Prior knowledge and understanding of the development to production process.
• Popular delivery methodologies (e.g. Agile, Waterfall, DevOps)
• Issue and enhancement management (e.g. ServiceNow or similar tool)
• Advanced analytical skills (e.g. diagramming, brainstorming, visualizing), preferred
• Advanced functional business domain knowledge (e.g. sales, finance, supply chain operations, customer service, marketing and regulatory), a plus
• Exposure or experience with ETL/ELT data processing tools is a plus
• Experience in health care industry, a plus
• Requirements workshop execution
• The ability to write advanced SQL queries and performance tune queries that are long running and/or run against large data sets (minimum 3 years of experience)
• Data profiling techniques
• Handle sensitive/confidential information and/or issues with discretion and good judgment
