JOB PURPOSE:

The Accounting Analyst will be the primary support for Hack VC’s finance and accounting functions and will assist in other areas of the firm as needs may arise. We seek an accountant who is interested in being part of a dynamic and fast-paced work environment, who can help support a wide range of operations, finance, and accounting requirements, and who is interested in crypto and venture generally.

DUTIES:

• Help design and implement robust workflows, processes, and a control framework, including documentation of workflows and control policies for a scalable operation infrastructure
• Work with the VP of Finance and multiple fund administrators to ensure timely distribution of quarterly financials
• Support the VP of Finance with the ongoing valuation of fund investments by aggregating financial data from portfolio companies and publicly available information
• Support the VP of Finance in the preparation of annual audited financial statements and regulatory filings
• Support the VP of Finance in accounting operations, including but not limited to: oversight of accounts payable, accounts receivable and maintaining the general ledger for the firm’s management company
• Support in the preparation of annual tax returns for the firm’s management company, GP entities, funds and limited partners by working with the tax provider
• Assist in the preparation of custom reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends
• Assist the VP of Finance in tracking and reporting portfolio investment performance and real time management requests
• Support the annual budgeting process and periodic re-forecasting and long-term projections
• Perform and review accounting function for the firm’s funds, while ensuring proper recording and allocation of expenses across all legal entities

SKILLS/ QUALIFICATIONS:

• Work independently in a dynamic workplace
• Passionate about (or at least have strong interest in) crypto and venture capital
• Minimum 4-6 years accounting experience required (public accounting and/or fund accounting experience a plus)
• Analytical thinker
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting required
• Multitask and manage/prioritize own workload to meet deadlines
• Systems savvy / technology enthusiast - an ability to understand flow of financial information through systemsand the ability to apply technology to improve process
• Excellent communication and documentation skills
