Vice President, Fund Banking

Summary
Stifel Bank is looking for a top caliber Vice President to join its Fund Banking team. The Fund Banking group provides commercial banking services to private investment funds directly. This includes funds investing across all alternative asset classes but with a specific focus on venture capital, growth equity, and lower middle market private equity. Services include capital call / subscription lines of credit, deposit accounts, and other banking services.
This position offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on exposure to both commercial banking and alternative investment funds with a small tight-knit team. The Vice President will be an integral part of business development, portfolio management, underwriting, and administration of the group with close interaction with other members of the Fund Banking team. Situationally, the position is also expected to perform certain tasks for the Venture Banking team, which works closely with Fund Banking. The location of the position is flexible but would ideally be based in a city with ample VC/PE funds.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Develop, originate and maintain Fund Banking (FB) business independently.
• Partner with Portfolio Managers, Analysts and Risk Management to proactively manage and maintain desired credit quality. Strong underwriting and deal structuring skills are critical.
• Assist in recruiting, management, and coaching of Bank team members.
• Maintain in-depth knowledge of the Technology and Healthcare ecosystem, Fund Banking industry, Venture Capital industry and Stifel’s broad product offerings.
• Develop and maintain a network of Venture Capital, Private Equity firms and other private investment funds. A high level of business development activity and relationship building will be expected.
• Partner and cross-sell with peer departments at Stifel (Venture Banking, Investment Banking, Commercial Lending, Fixed Income, and Private Client) to identify and generate opportunities.
• Collaborate with the Fund Banking team and Group Head to develop new products and strategies to meet the banking goals of the department.

Qualifications

• Advanced knowledge of VC/PE ecosystem and Fund Banking offerings.
• Effective communication skills to properly interact with and pitch prospective and existing clients, as well as colleagues across the Stifel platform.
• Ability to identify the strengths and weaknesses of fund clients and prospects.

Education & Experience

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field or equivalent experience required.
• 3+ years' of related experience required in corporate/commercial lending, debt capital markets, finance or accounting. 5+ years of experience and experience in credit analysis and credit portfolio management preferred.
• Prior experience managing a portfolio of Fund Banking relationships at a previous financial institution strongly preferred.

Systems & Technology

• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook

Base salary annualized range:  $121,000- $181,000 Actual salaries may vary, and may be based on several factors, including but not limited to each candidate’s qualifications, skills, and overall competencies for the position. The base salary is one component of Stifel’s overall compensation package for each individual employee.
