Job Description
Tribal Tech, LLC is an American Indian SBA certified 8(m) woman-owned small business, headquartered in Alexandria, VA. We provide a diverse range of management and technical consulting services in the health/wellness, energy and education realm to federal agencies, state government, American Indian/Alaska Native tribes, and private businesses. Provides training and technical assistance (TTA), virtually and onsite, to a portfolio of American Indian/Alaska Native communities to prevent substance use and misuse, prevent suicide including tribal youth suicide, and promotion of mental health. The customized technical assistance can include Tribal Action Planning, GONA/GOAN delivery, or other prevention curricula requested by a community. Working with the community to plan and include local traditions and practices, provide a summary report, and community participant evaluation of the TTA delivered.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assist tribal communities with development of strategic action plans, tribal action plans and prevention plans through onsite and virtual support.
  • Provide assistance to communities that matches readiness levels and meets the needs.
  • Provide training & technical assistance (TTA) to a tribal communities requesting support, around the prevention of substance use/misuse, prevention of suicide, and promotion of mental health.
  • Provide TTA that is trauma informed and strength based.
  • Coordinate across various internal teams and contract staff to ensure collaboration, communication, joint development of materials, and training.
  • Assist communities in strengthening existing services and/or continue to build off existing prevention infrastructure.
  • Conduct regular webinars, zoom, conference calls, telephone support and email with AI/AN communities to provide virtual TTA
Skills and Knowledge:
  • Experience and background working Tribal communities providing onsite and virtual training and technical assistance.
  • Effective communication skills including how to summarize and convey complex information to multiple audiences.
  • Ability to prioritize, manage multiple tasks, and deliver quality results under tight deadlines, with keen attention to detail.
  • Strong understanding of trauma informed and strength-based engagement approaches.
  • Proven ability to form positive, effective and culturally competent relationships with clients and team members.
  • Ability to work both individually and in a team environment.
  • Knowledge and expertise in substance abuse prevention, promotion of mental health, suicide prevention, and/or youth suicide risks.
  • Strong interpersonal communication and public speaking skills.
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, zoom, other virtual engagement tools and SharePoint.
  • Knowledge of tribal action plans, strategic action plans, and/or prevention plans.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of clinical issues/culturally appropriate intervention techniques.
Education and experience:
  • Previous work in American Indian/Alaska Native communities required
  • Licensure or certification in related area highly preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s Degree preferred; Masters of Social Work (MSW) highly preferred (extensive professional experience in related areas can be substituted for the education requirement)
  • Two or more years of professional experience (substance abuse prevention, suicide prevention, tribal youth suicide prevention, mental health, etc.)
