Move forward in your career by becoming a Title IV-E Medicaid Eligibility Specialist for the Salt Lake Valley Region (SLVR), Division of Child and Family Services (DCFS) and making initial and continuing Title IV-E and Medicaid eligibility determinations for Foster Care children in accordance with Federal, State, DHHS and DCFS policy and regulations.
This recruitment is open only to current employees of the State of Utah. Only the applications of current employees of the State of Utah will be considered for interviews.
This position is telework eligible. The State of Utah requires all employees to physically work inside the State of Utah Boundaries.
Principal Duties
As a Title IV-E Medicaid Eligibility Specialist you will:
- Maintains and/or creates files or record keeping systems. Sorts, labels, files and retrieves documents, or other materials.
- Consult with Division staff regarding eligibility requirements when necessary.
- Collects and reviews client information to determine client's/applicant's eligibility and options.
- Prepare and/or process documents; review for accuracy and completeness; update information and/or evaluate against policy; compare elements for consistency or logical relationships, etc.
- Enter data into relevant databases such as EREP, MMIS and SAFE.
- Refers clients to other available services to meet needs where appropriate.
Preference may be given for experience in or knowledge of Title IV-E and Medicaid and/or two or more years experience working in government or public programs.

Knowledge, skill and abilities related to this job:
- Use MMIS (Medicaid Management Information System)
- Use SAFE (i.e., State social services computer application program)
- Excellent computer skills and technologically savvy required
- Weigh the relative costs and benefits of a potential action
- Principles, theories, and practices of the Medicaid/Medicare system
- Organization skills, strong oral, written and interpersonal communications skills; and a strong commitment to customer service
- Title IV-E
- Ability to be detail oriented
- Use State or agency-specific software application program(s)
- Establish, organize and/or maintain files
- Foster care services
- Read, interpret and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies and/or procedures

Physical Requirements: Sedentary - Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items such as papers, books, small parts; driving an automobile, etc. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.
Working Conditions: Risks found in the typical office setting, which is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated, e.g., safe use of office equipment, avoiding trips and falls, observing fire regulations, etc.
