Determining Initial and Ongoing Eligibility

• Interview applicants and clients both in person and via telephone;
• Obtain and document necessary verifications as required by policy (income, resources, etc.);
• Consult with clients and collateral contacts, both in person and via telephone;
• Authorize correct benefits according to program policy;
• Communicate information regarding program rules, rights, and responsibilities;
• Process applications/reviews/recertifications/redeterminations within time frames;
• Documenting case actions in the case file.
• Enter and review data using automated sources of information;

Managing the Cases

• Process, review, and act on internal reports (not limited to DHHS, IWD, and SSA reports);
• Process review and recertification documents;
• Respond to customer concerns;
• Participate in the appeals and fair hearings process;
• Manage case records according to policy/procedure;
• Create correspondence such as requests for information;
• Processing appeals in accordance with policies and procedures.
• Respond to Quality Control reports and completing corrective actions when necessary;
• Make referrals to mandatory and non-mandatory services, e.g. CSRU, Promise Jobs, WIC, DIA, etc.;
• Schedule interviews and manage work time;
• Process changes in eligibility factors;
• Respond to case readings and completing corrective actions when necessary;
• Complete recoupments and vendor/facility adjustments;

“This position will be based in Burlington, IA 52732. Telework may be an option for this position if requested by the employee and approved by management.”

Minimum Qualification Requirements

Sixty semester hours (or equivalent academic units) from an accredited college or university;

OR

a combination of education and experience substituting the equivalent of one year of full-time public contact work experience obtaining, analyzing and/or evaluating data for each year of the required college education (on the basis that thirty semester hours is equal to one year of work experience);

OR

employees with current continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes experience equal to 18 months of full-time work at a Clerk Advanced level or above involving public contact experience on a regular basis in a service area.
