Software Engineer - Multimedia

Summary

Our team works on emerging standards for visual compression, including standards for image, video, and even immersive 3D visual experiences.
We are looking for a proactive talented software engineer. As a member of this team, you will have the opportunity to work with a world class team in some of the industry's most advanced compression standards and technologies, craft new compression schemes, develop and implement new ideas in the field, and propose them for deployment both within and outside Apple.

Experience with C and object-oriented programming in C++, and scripting languages such as Python, Perl, and awk.

Strong communication, writing, and presentation skills.

Description

We are looking for a strong software engineer to help prototype and assess proposals for new visual compression standards (particularly video). As a software engineer in this role, you will be responsible for writing and optimizing implementations, assessing their efficacy and efficiency, and writing test frameworks to support those assessments.

Education & Experience

B.S or M.S in EE/CE/CS with a focus in software engineering and/or multimedia signal processing

Additional Requirements

Interest in and experience with multimedia systems, signal processing and coding, and in particularly video, a plus.
Knowledge of and experience with codecs in current use in the industry (AVC, HEVC, AV1, etc.).
Knowledge of assembly and multithreaded programming a plus.
Knowledge and experience with Machine Learning a plus.
Able to learn on the go, curious, and willing to work with senior researchers, to help implement and assess ideas and directions and bring them to fruition.

Pay & Benefits

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $130,000 and $242,000, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
