At Electronic Arts we have many examples of players creating content, whether it be a skateboard park in Skate or fantastical mansions in the Sims 4. The future definitely has our players being more empowered to create with their imagination being the only limit. To enable more players to become creators, we are looking for a Software Engineer that will shape the technology that powers creation. If you have experience with building, running and scaling software solutions through modern techniques running on Kubernetes we want to hear from you.

You will work with an experienced team that has collectively built and worked on games and backend services for more than two decades. You will work with multiple developers to bring the next game services to life.

We strive to stay relevant and innovate in our development approaches as well as with our services. Many of our software engineers are “polyglots” and strive in multiple environments.

As a Software Engineer you will

• Demonstrate excellent technical problem-solving skills under iteratively changing requirements during development
• Drive design and implementation of APIs and protocols that are consistent, formalized, and testable
• Embrace and commit to culturalizing vision and plans for SRE principles and Best Practices.
• Maintain a suite of automated tests that validate the correctness of backend services
• Apply and improve service deployment and troubleshooting strategies that maximize uptime
• Author and review technical design documents and API specifications detailing software requirements
• Design and automate security on top of Kubernetes to keep processes and users isolated on a multi-tenant cluster
• Develop DevOps, GitOps and Platform Engineering integrations for Kubernetes and public cloud platforms

Qualifications

• You've shipped and supported scalable web services hosted in the cloud
• 5+ years of job experience in a hands on coding role
• You develop high-quality, testable software
• You've deployed services using Kubernetes and containerization
• You have a desire to work with client engineers and designers to iteratively add features and improve APIs
• You have a desire to teach and learn from your peers
• Bachelor/Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field.
• You develop APIs for products that release new updates with zero downtime strategies and tools
• You own large systems and features from design to deployment, including live service support
• You're a motivated self-starter; able to operate with autonomy
• You have experience with various programming languages and frameworks (from most to least relevant: Golang, Java/Kotlin, Typescript, Python)
• You’ve knowledge of platforms, architectures and the CNCF landscape with a deep understanding of Kubernetes, Kubernetes API and CRDs.
• You have excellent written and verbal communication skills
• You have experience with public cloud providers (GCP, AWS)
• You're willing to iterate quickly and develop multiple short-lived prototypes
• You have experience with load testing, troubleshooting, and optimizing performance of web services

Pluses

• You have contributed to CNCF projects or built open source tooling
• You've shipped web services that scale to millions of daily users
• You've worked in the games industry before
• You have experience working in large data-driven services
• You have developed Kubernetes operators for CRDs

Us Compensation And Benefits

The base salary ranges listed below are for the defined geographic market pay zones in these states. If you reside outside of these locations, a recruiter will advise on the base salary range and benefits for your specific location.

Salary offered will be determined based on numerous relevant business and candidate factors including, for example, education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, and business or organizational needs.

BASE SALARY RANGES

• California (depending on location e.g. Los Angeles vs. Sacramento):

º $130,250 - $199,400

• New York (depending on location e.g. Manhattan vs. Buffalo):

º $120,450 - $199,400

• Jersey City, NJ:

º $147,400 - $199,400

• Colorado (depending on location e.g. Denver vs. Colorado Springs):

º $120,450 - $161,750

• Washington (depending on location e.g. Seattle vs. Spokane):

º $120,450 - $188,600

Base salary is just one part of the overall compensation at EA. We also offer a package of benefits including paid time off (3 weeks per year to start), 80 hours per year of sick time, 16 paid company holidays per year, 10 weeks paid time off to bond with baby (following 1 year of service), medical/dental/vision insurance, life insurance, disability insurance, and 401(k) to regular full-time employees. Certain roles may also be eligible for bonus and equity.
