Senior Logistics Coordinator (Supporting Nasa)

ASRC Federal System Solutions is seeking an experienced Sr. Logistics Coordinator to provide subject matter expertise to NASA Armstrong Flight Research Center. As a member of the SOFIA (Stratospheric Observatory For Infrared Astronomy) closeout team, you will assist with identifying and reviewing scientific equipment used by the program and providing recommendations for re-use, disposition, or sale, as well as helping with overall project closeout tracking.
This role is located at Armstrong Flight Research Center in Palmdale, California and Edwards Air Force Base, California. Full-time work schedule with some telework available. Periodic travel to Ames Research Center in Mountain View, CA may be required.
Responsibilities

• Participate in meetings with Logistics Lead, Logistics stakeholders and Project Stakeholders on a reoccurring basis to ensure communication is shared and tracked for closeout.
• Provide technical consultation on unique instrument and facility teardown, packing, and transportation.
• Review project property for information on reuse, disposition and sale of property going through the excess process.
• Advise and recommend to NASA potential disposition approaches, as well as alternate uses and users, of high-value equipment.
• Participate in meetings to support the closeout and give insight on property actions involving property identified by the project.
• Provide consultancy to the SOFIA Project Manager and Logistics Lead with regard to property identification with specific attention to the history and technical knowledge applicable to close out of the project.
• Document closeout risks and report status to Logistics Lead and SOFIA Project Manager weekly.
• Support SOFIA project and logistics meetings, as required. Provide monthly report on work status and accomplishments.
• Travel to NASA locations that have SOFIA property to support the Logistics Lead and Center Property Disposal Officers in disposition planning and tracking.
• Research laboratory equipment technical specifications and heritage. Contact commercial equipment providers and academic developers to obtain required technical information, and document accordingly. This could include: (1) performance specifications, (2) technology definition and description for export control assessment, (3) operational usage, (4) hazards and toxic substances, (5) environmental use conditions, limits, and preservation requirements, and (6) equipment ends of life shutdown and disposition.
• Provide Subject Matter Expertise consultation on SOFIA science instrument development history and operational usage.

This position is offering a pay range of $60,000 - $85,000 annually depending on experience, seniority, geographic locations, and other factors permitted by law. Education/Experience requirements:

• Familiarity with scientific instruments, and their use in laboratory and operational settings.
• High School Diploma and 7 years of related experience.
• Familiarity with high spectral and spatial resolution, multi-band, electro-optic instrument development and operation.
• Excellent written and oral skills. Proactive communicator.

Desired Skills:

• Knowledge of SOFIA technical and science systems, personnel, facilities, and aircraft operational environment.
• Knowledge of NASA policy and procedures, including laboratory operation, configuration control/management, and safety & mission assurance.

Physical Requirements:

• Mobility to work in an office setting, use standard office equipment including a computer and keyboard; vision to read printed materials, equipment tags, computer screen, and printed material. Position may involve periods of standing, walking, pushing, pulling, bending, reaching and lifting (may range from 10-50 lbs on a regular basis)
