Scout Productions is an Emmy® and Academy Award®-winning multimedia company working primarily in unscripted and documentary streaming and television. Scout is known for culturally resonant, critically-acclaimed storytelling that focuses on omnicultural characters across many platforms, including Netflix, Max, Disney+, Amazon, Hulu, Peacock, Roku, and more. Our formats range from transformation to competition and investigative to follow doc. We also focus on brand partnerships and product development in content, licensing, and product placement across our properties, including Queer Eye.


The Role


The Head of Partnerships will work directly with the President of Scout Productions to drive revenue and growth through the development of consumer products, licensing, and experiences connected to our original content, storylines, characters, and other intellectual property. This new senior role is being established at an exciting and critical time for our business. We are seeking an entrepreneurial leader whose experience resides at the intersection of consumer brands, experiences, and products. You will be responsible for building and overseeing merchandising, product development, licensing, publishing, marketing, and live experiences. The primary purpose of the role is to help productize and monetize all aspects of our business. You will focus on material dealmaking and partnerships –– all designed to drive growth by giving fans new ways to spend time and money with their favorite content from Scout Productions.


The Opportunity


Scout Productions has a reputation as one of the most creative and successful companies in the unscripted business with a proven track record of innovation dating back to the launch of Queer Eye as a cable television phenomenon on Bravo in 2003 and its reboot for Netflix in 2018. Scout has launched multiple products in home, apparel, gaming, and lifestyle. This has been due to the hard work of a lot of talented people and partners.


Before the creation of this role, Scout has never had a dedicated, full-time executive focused on developing and managing new business relationships to bring our fans’ favorite brands, characters, and stories to life via merchandise, products, real-life experiences, and more.


If you have concepted and executed branded integrations, consumer products, licensing deals, and fan experiences, and you understand the ecosystem of TV distribution and ad sales, then this could be your dream job. What You’ll Do


  • Work directly with the President and leadership team at Scout Productions to identify and productize our original content and intellectual property
  • Identify, research, and build business cases for new areas of investment, expansion and revenue models
  • Develop a network of meaningful relationships with licensees, retailers, product developers, and agencies to unlock growth
  • Cultivate an industry presence –– making clear that Scout Productions is open for business in consumer products, licensing, experiences and beyond
  • Work across all teams at Scout Productions to identify and maximize opportunities
  • Create a nimble business development and partnerships operation that leverages content, characters, and storylines as shows gain cultural awareness and traction – ensuring Scout Productions can move quickly to drive revenue when consumer appetites are at their highest.
  • Manage communication with all parties and partners (internal and external) for deals in development and execution.
  • Lead strategic partnerships and business development as Scout Productions invests more in consumer products and experiences.

Who You Are

  • You have experience selling and structuring non-conventional media and sponsorship deals including licensing, product development, co-promotion, custom content, experiential activations, and more
  • You have 10+ years experience at the intersection of consumer brands, experiences, and products with at least 7 years experience in a partnerships and/or business development role
  • You’re a creative and effective dealmaker who can see the big picture, understand how to get there, and you thrive at driving deals from conception through execution
  • You love pop culture and stay ahead of the curve on trends, talent and creativity
  • You’re a natural networker who can connect the dots in order to grow a business and build out strategic initiatives and opportunities

Compensation


This position offers a highly competitive base compensation of $180K-$200k plus an annual backend commission plan totalling $25-$50k.
