Manages and maintains Gordon Food Service safety and accident prevention programs for a division. Delivers and monitors training to all division employees on safety policies, procedures, and regulations. Ensures compliance with existing GFS safety procedures and related government safety regulations.
Essential Functions:
  • Delivers GFS safety training and education necessary to meet regulatory OSHA compliance requirements and GFS safety objectives
  • Tracks training completion utilizing the learning management system and provides reporting on training completion to employee and supervisor
  • Monitors effectiveness of training by auditing employee knowledge, observing employee behavior and tracking incidents
  • Conducts and tracks annual observations of employees on PIV Equipment, Switcher operations, Lockout performance and other performance based programs as directed.
  • Manages the incident and injury investigation process and works with supervisors to determine required follow-up and corrective actions
  • Supports transportation and Fleet functions in promoting safety practices and education; collaborates with department managers and GFS Home Office to promote safety efforts and provide feedback as directed.
  • Tracks safety data and goal achievement; communicates status of the division in regards to compliance with GFS procedures, policies and results
  • Supports the Maintenance Department’s Contractor Safety Program, Process Safety Management (PSM) Program
  • Assists HR Team with incident reporting, return to work, and OSHA reporting.
  • Facilitates, leads or participates in safety projects, events and in GFS national safety forums when directed
  • Conducts Monthly and quarterly fire protection systems inspections.
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:
  • Deductive Reasoning - the ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense.
  • Comprehensive communication skills with planning, execution, organizational, and administrative skills.
  • Ability to develop solutions to complex problems that require the regular use of ingenuity and innovation. Ensures solutions are consistent with organization objectives.
  • Problem Sensitivity - the ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. It does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem.
  • Interpersonal, collaboration, problem solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Knowledge of federal and state regulatory agencies including OSHA, GFS safety processes, procedures, and requirements and ability to understand and apply accident and injury investigation techniques and procedures.
  • Inductive Reasoning - the ability to combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions (includes finding a relationship among seemingly unrelated events).
  • Knowledge of current trends and developments in the field and industry.
