Job Description

Epsilon Systems Solutions is focused on software development and systems engineering for complex command, control, intelligence and combat systems. We are seeking an INSURV Inspection Assessor – Naval Occupational Safety and Health Department Focus, with 10+ years’ experience in San Diego, CA .Our engineering efforts provide the warfighter with tools support critical support to operational missions to improve targeting capabilities. Summary:

The Inspection Assessor will provide operational and programmatic support to the Board of Inspection and Survey (INSURV) for the Engineering Department, specifically Inspecting occupational health and sanitary spaces.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct environmental protection and NAVOSH oversight inspection of naval vessels, including equipment, program compliance, and training.
  • Submit timely, accurate, and candid assessment findings.
  • Perform inspections and observe operations of systems and components to determine existing conditions and document deficiencies/discrepancies in support of inspections and surveys to determine fitness for further service.
  • Conduct material inspections and surveys of ships and service craft to determine the material readiness of vessels.
  • Prepare for inspection by reviewing the most current assigned INSURV inspection guide(s), the ships equipment configuration, and preventive maintenance system (PMS).

Required Qualifications:

  • Pursuant to the various government contractual requirements, all applicants must be U.S. Citizens.
  • Experience should include inspection, operation, and testing expertise in the following mission area:
    • Naval Occupational Safety and Health - Shipboard ventilation systems (exhaust velocity in occupational health and sanitary spaces, inspection of fan rooms, and functionality of airflow alarms); oil pollution abatement system (oily waste processing and transfer, oily waste separator operations, and oil content monitor), supply storerooms and stowage aids, ship installed laundry equipment, crew and troop berthing and staterooms, emergency egress panels and hatches, gear lockers, lounges, physical training, and common crew spaces, sanitary and shower facilities; shipboard grease interceptor hoods and wash down systems, to include fire suppression systems, galley and food service spaces, deep sinks and sanitizers; grills, kettles, ovens, and major foodservice equipment, minor galley equipment, freezers and chill storage units, self-service laundries, and vending machines
    • 4.2.4.1 Inspect and evaluate shipboard ventilation systems (exhaust velocity in occupational health and sanitary spaces, inspection of fan rooms and functionality of air flow alarms)
    • Inspect all aspects of shipboard oil pollution abatement system (oily waste processing and transfer, oily waste separator operations, and oil content monitor) IAW EP0010 Oil Pollution Abatement IIG.
  • Naval Occupational Safety and Health - Shipboard ventilation systems (exhaust velocity in occupational health and sanitary spaces, inspection of fan rooms, and functionality of airflow alarms); oil pollution abatement system (oily waste processing and transfer, oily waste separator operations, and oil content monitor), supply storerooms and stowage aids, ship installed laundry equipment, crew and troop berthing and staterooms, emergency egress panels and hatches, gear lockers, lounges, physical training, and common crew spaces, sanitary and shower facilities; shipboard grease interceptor hoods and wash down systems, to include fire suppression systems, galley and food service spaces, deep sinks and sanitizers; grills, kettles, ovens, and major foodservice equipment, minor galley equipment, freezers and chill storage units, self-service laundries, and vending machines
  • A minimum of a HS Degree or GED required.
  • 4.2.4.1 Inspect and evaluate shipboard ventilation systems (exhaust velocity in occupational health and sanitary spaces, inspection of fan rooms and functionality of air flow alarms)
  • Ability to use phone and computer systems, copier, fax, and other office equipment.
  • Ability to obtain/maintain a DoD Secret security clearance
  • Inspect all aspects of shipboard oil pollution abatement system (oily waste processing and transfer, oily waste separator operations, and oil content monitor) IAW EP0010 Oil Pollution Abatement IIG.
  • At least ten (10) years of experience in the Navy or supporting Navy Surface Ships.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Previous technical services as an inspector reviewing testing, test plan generation and inspection and assessment procedures for in-service U.S. Navy ships, crafts, MSC, and other government-owned ships, e.g., U.S. Navy Board of Inspection and Survey, Afloat Training Group, TYCOM Assessment Team, etc.
  • Certified Master Training Specialist
  • Fifteen (15) years of experience in the Navy or supporting Navy Surface Ships.

ADA Notations:

  • Prolonged use of computer (typing/keyboarding).
  • Frequently required to sit for long periods of time, stand, and walk.
  • Ability to speak, read, hear and write, with or without assistance
  • Regular communication (hearing/speaking).
  • Ability to work in an industrial shipboard/shipyard environment, climb shipboard ladders and wear all required safety equipment. Able to lift (up to 50lb), carry, and transport heavy equipment and materials required. Able to meet U.S. Navy ship rider requirements
  • Ability to travel by car, air or other means of transportation, if required.
  • Noise conditions range from very quiet to very noisy.
