What team will you be on?

The BlackRock Investment Institute (BII) team is at the heart of BlackRock's investment debate and portfolio construction. BII is able to draw on insight and data from across Blackrock’s investment teams and covers macro issues, markets and portfolio construction. We provide practical conclusions for Blackrock’s portfolio managers and clients. Our forward-thinking, global team has outsized impact on BlackRock’s performance, commercial success and brand.

Reflecting its central role, BII is expanding its research and communication capability: We are hiring for a Vice President position in our New York office in our Portfolio Research Group (PRG).

Why is your role important?

The PRG in BII is viewed as credible and objective by both clients and academia, building on pioneering academic research and using the expertise of BlackRock’s investment teams to deliver sophisticated analytics, practical and practical content to the rest of the firm.

We are looking to supercharge our ability to clearly communicate our practical research inside and outside the firm. This role will organize and drive messaging to ensure it becomes embedded across all users of our research via internal and external content creation, research summaries and video content.

What will you be doing?

• Prototyping new optimization and other asset allocation models. You will work with sophisticated optimization algorithms to develop BlackRock’s approach to portfolio construction.
• Delivering content to build our brand: You will help us to communicate our research via internal and external publications, as well as partnership with BlackRock’s investment and portfolio consulting teams.
• Defining the strategy for internal communication of research. You will guide our strategy for internal communication of our research via the written word and video content, disseminating the group’s research with internal partners and working with those partners to facilitate its use and adoption
• Developing new investment frameworks. You will play a role in the creation of new analytical methodologies to improve the construction of portfolios and help clients meet their long-term investment objectives.
• Generating the BII’s asset class views. You will help us build innovative quantitative models to project the returns of assets through time.

What are we looking for?

• Intuition for and a passion in financial markets and with experience in the finance sector.
• Experience in writing research notes and summaries.
• Motivated teamate, flexible in approach and ability to work independently.
• Open-minded thought process and intellectual curiosity.
• Responsive with keen attention to detail.
• Understanding of the use of computer technology in financial and economic research, with statistical package programming skills (e.g., Matlab, R, Python).
• A demonstrably quantitative and creative mind.
• Experience in commercializing research and product strategy a plus.
• Strong communication skills and ability to distil research for broad consumption.

For New York City only: The salary range for this position is $156,750 - $205,000. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including heath care, leave benefits, and retirement benefits. BlackRock operates a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy and your total compensation may vary based on role, location, and firm, department and individual performance.

Our hybrid work model

BlackRock’s hybrid work model is designed to enable a culture of collaboration and apprenticeship that enriches the experience of our employees, while supporting flexibility for all. Employees are currently required to work at least 3 days in the office each week, with the flexibility to work from home up to 2 days a week; some business groups may require more time in the office due to their roles and responsibilities. Beginning in September, all employees will shift to at least 4 days in the office per week, with the flexibility to work from home 1 day a week.
