JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
The Cognitive Aging and Neuroimaging Lab, in conjunction with the Penn State Clinical Neuropsychology Lab, in the College of the Liberal Arts at Penn State is hiring a full-time Research Assistant to assist in their studies investigating the neural basis of cognitive processes, including memory and executive functioning, using both behavioral and neuroimaging (fMRI) methods.
Current projects in the labs center around understanding the cognitive and neural processes underlying false memories and understanding how neural systems adapt to injury and disease. Regarding neuroimaging, the work utilizes univariate, multivariate (pattern classification, representational similarity analyses), functional connectivity, and structural analytical approaches to neural imaging analyses. The Research Assistant will be responsible for day-to-day management tasks of lab activities including scheduling and recruiting participants, training and overseeing undergraduate research assistants, creating experimental and laboratory protocols and procedures, as well as data collection and analysis. O pportunity for authorship on projects is also available. Work responsibilities will be split across labs with a focus on integrating methods and analyses.
Education and Experience : This position will be filled as a Human Research Technologist 1, which typically requires an Associate's degree or higher (Bachelor's degree preferred) plus one year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A Bachelor’s degree in psychology, neuroscience, computer science, or related fields, as well as excellent interpersonal skills are preferred. Experience with programming skills (e.g., MATLAB; R; Python) and analysis of fMRI data is desirable.
