Research Assistant- Treatment For Antepartum Ptsd

POSITION SUMMARY:
This position is part of a study entitled, "Treatment for Antepartum Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)," which aims to provide a psychosocial treatment for PTSD among pregnant patients ages 18-50.
The Research Assistant will provide administrative support to this project and will be involved with recruitment; data collection through surveys and electronic medical record data extraction; participant scheduling and correspondence; coordination of study visits, meetings, and communication between team members; assisting with protocol and regulatory logistics; conducting literature reviews; and assisting with manuscript preparation.
An ideal candidate has interest in pursuing a doctoral degree in psychology or related field and is able to commit at least 2 years to this project.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES:

• Participates in staff meetings/initiatives including appropriate quality improvement and education activities, or if unable to attend non-mandatory activities, accepts responsibility to review meeting minutes and becomes knowledgeable of issues discussed.
• Assists with manuscript and grant preparation and research.
• Obtains and distributes reimbursements/participation vouchers and/or payments.
• Performs a variety of data management procedures (e.g., data entry, producing basic reports, data cleaning, database maintenance).
• Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance programs, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
• Conducts literature searches and synthesizes information in requested formats.
• Conforms to hospital standards of performance and conduct, including those pertaining to patient rights, so that the best possible customer service and patient care may be provided.
• Recruits subjects to participate in the study; conducts the enrollment of study participants, including explaining research procedures & protocols, and obtaining informed consent of subjects and/or their families.
• Follows established hospital infection control and safety procedures.
• Attends all required training and meetings of the research team, as instructed by Principal Investigator.
• Administers questionnaires and assists study participants in navigating through questionnaires.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Utilizes hospital's behavioral standards as the basis for decision making and to facilitate the hospital's goals and mission.
• Provides assistance in the development of reports, grants, presentations and data analysis.
• Responsible for all other administrative duties related to research activities.
• Perform administrative duties associated with the study's Data Monitoring and Safety Board, tracking and reporting adverse events and collecting data specified by the DSMB.
• Maintains patient study files in accordance with legal and institutional guidelines.
• Identify subjects with significant clinical concerns and relays this information to the Principal Investigator.
• Performs office-related duties such as answering phones, picking up and delivering mail, storing and distributing office supplies, handling faxes, scanning, filing, photocopying, collating materials, maintaining the update of policy manuals, etc.
• Prepares and maintains Institutional Review Board (IRB) approvals and correspondence, including amendments and renewals as necessary.
• Reviews the data collection forms for each enrollee for completion and quality.
• Schedules appointments of study participants; conducts reminder phone calls and/or sends mailouts.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION:

• A minimum of a Bachelor's degree is required.

EXPERIENCE:

• Previous experience with recruiting subjects, with an understanding of the ethical and technical conduct of research preferred
• Prefer experience in clinical research, public health experience or working with children and families.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

• Excellent English communication skills (oral and written).
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (i.e. MS Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook) and web browsers. Experience with statistical software a plus.
• Cultural sensitivity and comfort with a wide range of social, racial and ethnic populations.
• Bilingual candidate preferred, not required, fluent in spoken and written English, Spanish, and/or Haitian Creole.
• Must be able to maintain strict confidentiality of all personal/health sensitive information.
