What You'll Do
- Promote and expand Business Intelligence Unit service in the Americas region by ensuring the delivery of timely and accurate reporting and advice to relevant stakeholders, including client or counterparty enhanced research due diligence reports or research and analysis of other topics with potential financial crime or reputational risk impact(s) to the Bank. These could include geo-political or other jurisdictional reviews, high-risk industry or other sectoral reviews, ad hoc macro-economic trend analysis, emerging risk trends or typologies, Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) concerns, among others
- Oversee the daily operations of the regional Business Intelligence Unit team, including the management and training of junior team members and/or contingent staff
- Design, implement, and manage a robust enhanced research and corporate intelligence program in the Americas region, to be able to address the financial crime and/or reputational concerns of its stakeholders across the first (1LOD) and second (2LOD) lines of defense
- Proactively develop a strong partnership with teams across the three lines of defense through regular communication and engagement with key senior management, and relevant risk committees. As such, should be able to cultivate professional links with senior internal stakeholders and external agencies, particularly those which deal with due diligence activities, to guarantee the alignment and long-term success of the regional BIU team
- Act as the senior subject matter expert (SME) for enhanced research and/or corporate intelligence concerns in the Americas for the global BIU team. As such, provide advice, regional expertise, and support across the global Business Intelligence Unit (BIU) platform, and as needed by other 1LOD and 2LOD teams, and represent the BIU on relevant risk committees as appropriate
- Be able to respond to significant events with thorough and timely solutions whilst managing existing workload, and act as a key point of contact and SME to senior management regional BIU matters, and ensure the accurate and timely reporting periodic Management Information (MI) as required
How You'll Lead
- Effective decision-making skills and strong problem-solving skills
- Strong knowledge of Anti-Money Laundering (AML) laws (USA PATRIOT Act), regulations (Fed, Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA)) and their application to the supported products/business lines
- Ability to lead a team of professionals by goal setting and driving completion of assigned tasks
Skills You'll Need
- Ideally functional knowledge of banks' client Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) framework, reputational risk review process and general AML / onboarding procedures and requirements, or comparable equivalent.
- Fluency in Spanish and/or Portuguese; other languages will be a plus
- Strong regional expertise, including direct professional experience in Latin America and the Caribbean.
- A sound understanding of key regional political and socio-economic issues, including familiarity with key governmental framework and issues of bribery, corruption, and financial crime in general.
- A proven track record of more than extensive years providing enhanced research or corporate due diligence service, ideally within a consulting, Investment Banking, or comparable environment.
Skills That Will Help You Excel
- Familiar with a wide range of external data sources and third-party databases to be covered as a part of the due diligence process (e.g. Factiva, LexisNexis, Refinitiv)
- Of graduate caliber with excellent knowledge of local, regional and Global AML rules and regulations, applicable to a global Investment Bank
- Robust, credible, and organizationally/politically savvy, with an ability to grasp complex issues quickly
Expectations
It is the Bank's expectation that employees hired into this role will work in the New York office in accordance with the Bank's hybrid working model.

The salary range for this position in New York City is 120,000 to 200,000. Actual salaries may be based on a number of factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's skill set, experience, education, work location and other qualifications. Posted salary ranges do not include incentive compensation or any other type of remuneration.
