We are seeking a results-driven Business Unit Manager to join our client within the aerospace / defense industry. In this role, you will be responsible for driving business results by managing Profit and Loss, meeting annual plans, and achieving business growth objectives. As the leader of a cross-functional business unit team, you will oversee sales, operations, engineering, and quality functions. Your key responsibilities will include generating new business opportunities, leading proposal preparation, managing bookings, developing and maintaining customer relationships, and overseeing operational activities to ensure excellent customer service and cost objectives are met. Reporting to the Director of Sales, you will have extensive interaction with senior management, including the President.
Responsibilities:
- Develop detailed sales, bookings, and forecasts
- Determine and implement strategic plans to win profitable new business
- Focus on value creation through value-based pricing, cost improvement, and identifying profitable business opportunities
- Achieve annual EBITDA growth of 10% or more
- Represent the company at trade shows, conventions, and seminars
- Negotiate sales and marketing contracts with customers
- Approximately 25-30% travel required
- Provide weekly and monthly sales reports to management
- Travel globally for meetings, trade shows, customer visits, and corporate events
- Guide sales personnel, marketing, and engineers to create intrinsic value
- Sell the value of products and influence customer purchasing decisions
- Develop relationships with new business accounts and maintain relationships with Primes and OEMs
- Manage a small team of direct reports in the office and field
- Manage the product lifecycle from ideation to obsolescence
Qualifications:
- Demonstrated ability to drive results
- Aerospace/Defense experience required
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Management experience with direct reports
- Public speaking ability
- MBA preferred
- Experience with increasing responsibilities
- Broad business knowledge in sales, engineering, finance, and operations
- 4-year degree (BS in Engineering or Business)
