Project Finance Analyst/Associate
Remote / Commercial activities / FULL-TIME
Verdagy (the “Company”) is creating a new class of large-scale hydrogen electrolyzers that will help decarbonize some of the most difficult to abate sectors of our global economy. Our approach is to design large modular skid-mounted hydrogen electrolyzers that will be used to architect very large-scale hydrogen production plants.
Reporting to the Chief Commercial Officer (the “CCO”), the Project Finance Analyst/Associate (the “Analyst”), will be responsible for providing support for various financial analysis tasks across the Company’s business activities. The ability to work both independently, as well as in a team, is important.
The Analyst will demonstrate a passion for renewable energy and financial analysis and will support a wide variety of activities. He or she will be expected to gather information from multiple sources and drive financial analyses for various opportunities and customers.
The ability to pursue independent research, analyze data and formulate supportable conclusions is critically important. Moreover, the Analyst will need to have effective communication skills, both written and oral, to ensure that the results of his or her work can be effectively conveyed to others. The Analyst will be involved in a wide variety of activities, including business development and project/corporate financial analysis to support the Company’s business opportnities.
The Analyst will work closely with the CCO to analyze new opportunities and markets and complete other projects and tasks as assigned. The Analyst will have the desire and mind set to operate as a contributor within a fast-paced and growing leader in the green hydrogen space.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and assist with analytical tools and analyses to support business development activities
- Provide financial analysis support at both the corporate and project levels
- Create, format and edit documents in MS Office 365 and Google applications
- Work closely with the CCO on various projects and analyze and evaluate a variety of strategic business opportunities
- Monitor trends in the renewable energy debt and equity markets
- Proactive in learning and mastering hydrogen markets along with state & federal incentive programs
- Consolidate and analyze corporate financial data (budgets, cash flow forecasts, etc.)
- Model economics of project documents, including land leases, interconnection agreements, power purchase agreements, EPC and O&M agreements, etc.
- Prepare qualitative memos that will be presented to senior management for investment decisions
- Assist in the standardization of customer-facing presentations, proposals and other types of informatio
- Perform sensitivity analyses on project models
- Monitor and model various financial structures (project finance debt, equity, PTC/ITC, grants and other incentives, depreciation benefits, lease financing, tax equity investments, etc.)
- Maintain project models with current and updated assumptions
- Analyze and evaluate business opportunities
- Create, generate and enhance project level financial models for the entire life cycle of a green hydrogen project and calculate project and company level returns
Support senior management with corporate financial planning and analysis
EXPERIENCE & PROFESSIONAL QUALITIES
Must be passionate about the renewable energy business, hardworking and thrive in the fast pace of a rapidly growing company. In addition, the Analyst must possess:
- Strong people skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 and Google applications including experience with project financial modeling.
- Basic understanding of corporate and project/structured finance
- Banking, valuation, accounting, financial statement analysis, applied mathematics, quantitative analytics experience or relevant coursework preferred
- 0-4 years of analyst/associate level experience - amount and type of experience will determine level of position – from analyst up to associate.
- Proven ability to quickly and accurately solve problems and develop value-added solutions
- Strong organizational and time management skills, and the ability to efficiently manage multiple projects in a fast-paced work environment
- Experience in the renewable energy or cleantech industry working with project finance models, including modeling tax equity and debt structures or relevant coursework is preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Sustainability, Environmental Studies or related field preferred
