Salary: $27.25/hourly

About The Program And Position


Our Transitional Foster Care Program for Unaccompanied Children (UC) overseen by the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR), ensures the well-being and safety of unaccompanied children (ages 0-17) who cross the US Southern border without an adult. Unlike traditional congregate care settings, our approach involves placing unaccompanied children in foster homes while diligently searching for and assessing potential sponsors identified in the US. During their stay with us, we provide medical care, case management, engaging life skills classes, and essential mental health services.


The Medical Coordinator will primarily provide support to the medical provider by documenting medical information in UC portal medical charts. This individual will use sound medical and professional judgment and best practices to support the medical, safety and well-being of every child in care. They are also responsible for maintaining compliance with established regulatory agencies and federal standards requirements.


How You Get To Use Your Skills


  • Working knowledge of and updating pertinent spreadsheets
  • Assembly of discharge packets
  • Completion of Child Level Events(CLE)
  • Update and maintain accurate and up-to-date UC portal case files and records with information pertaining to nursing care, childs medical history, consult notes, treatment plans, and observations; document all pertinent information in the UC portal case files/records in accordance to agency policy and licensing standards
  • Responds in a positive and respectful manner to diversity, among the agencys service population and staff.
  • Knowledge and experience of working with current electronic medical record system (Medent)
  • Completion of treatment authorization requests (TARs)


Required Experience


  • Ability to work effectively in a team context
  • Experience working with at-risk youth - strongly preferred
  • Bi-lingual English-Spanish - required
  • Strong knowledge and experience working with Microsoft Office and Google Suite
  • Ability to work independently and in collaboration with agency healthcare providers and nursing support staff
  • Demonstrated ability to perform duties with minimal supervision and to exercise greater judgment
  • Knowledge of medical office environment, workflow, and terminology
  • High school diploma/GED required
  • Strong communication, human relation, and organizational skills - required


Schedule


  • Must be flexible to meet program needs
  • Non-Exempt
  • Weekend and evening on-call hours required
  • Regular hours entail Monday - Friday 9am-5pm
  • Holidays may be required

  • Word processing: Including responding to emails, composing letters, completing computerized documentation,system etc.:
  • Completing paperwork -Such as copying, scanning and faxing documents
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
  • This involves sitting at a computer for several hours
