Design Department Coordinator Jobs

The Design Department Coordinator will provide support to the Hyperion Books design team which falls under the Disney Book Group. In this role you will have computer proficiency as well as ability to learn new technologies and applications for MAC and iPhone. The candidate should be organized, able to communicate effectively across departments, and enthusiastic about book publishing and book design.

You will report to the Creative Director

This is a Full-Time role.

Responsibilities/You Will

• Liaison between agents/artists and Human Resources in categorizing independent contractors
• Work with the legal department to create and process Independent Contract Agreements and letter contracts agreements for freelance artists
• Research and develop relationships with framing and printing services for office décor and annual gallery shows
• Maintain stock of art and office supplies for department designers
• Process and track all payments and invoices for all vendors and procurement purchases for five department designers
• Font Administrator role, regulating the library of fonts available to designers for all titles based on company compliance, including all new approved font purchases
• Work with Creative Director to prepare submission entries for annual illustration, design, and book show awards
• Manage materials and deadlines for Launch and Sales Conference presentations
• Be a casual buyer for the Disney Hyperion Art Department team
• Guide all new design department vendors in creating profiles in the Walt Disney Company's vendor payment system
• Track all packages and maintain art return log and files
• Order Galleys, Bound Galleys, and F&Gs from the TSI warehouse on behalf of editorial and design teams
• Package fragile original picture book art for travel

Basic Qualifications/You Will Have

• Interest or prior experience in publishing and book design
• Experience within a Windows and MAC environment, and work on multiple programs for MAC, iPhone and iPad.
• Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite.
• Organizational and communicative experience collaborating with partners across the organization

Required Education

Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience

The hiring range for this position in New York is $40,320 to $55,440 per year based on a 40 hour work week. The amount of hours scheduled per week may vary based on business needs. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
