ROLE TITLE: Managing Director, Alumni Program and Leadership Experiences REPORTS TO: Hilary Lewis

LOCATION: Flexible
SALARY:
Tier A: $93,300 - $134,800
Tier B: $101,700 - $146,900
Tier C: $110,100 - $159,100
What You’ll Do
This role is specifically focused on supporting the leadership development and ongoing learning of TFA alumni continuing to work in PK-12 education as teachers, school leaders and school systems leaders across the country. Specifically, you will be responsible for leading a variety of programmatic offerings that address the learning needs of TFA alumni in this field. This includes designing and facilitating live and virtual programs, working with partner organizations to leverage their expertise and offerings in service of this constituent group, and curating resources relevant to our alumni educator community. The goal of this role is to ensure that TFA alumni continuing their direct service in education have access to the experiences and network they need to make the strongest impact possible in their school communities.
The ideal candidate for this role deeply believes in the importance of direct work in schools as a critical lever toward systemic change and this belief is likely informed by their own previous work experience of teaching and leading in schools. You are passionate about leveraging the resources of TFA to help educators make their classrooms and schools equitable, loving, and liberatory places for their students, families, and staff. You are interested in and have expertise in adult learning and have led varied professional development opportunities for groups of educators. You can easily toggle between managing a project plan for program logistics and engaging an audience of veteran educators with credibility and relevance.
What You' Ll Be Responsible For
Alumni Engagement and Connection ( 70%)
  • Facilitate dialogue amongst diverse participants on complex topics often including issues of DEI
  • Co-create and set the vision and goals for program offerings for the target audience of TFA alumni in education.
  • Ensure programming is embodying antiracist leadership practices and developing leaders to be equity minded anti-racist leaders in their communities and schools
  • Co-Design & Facilitate live and virtual learning experiences for veteran teachers, aspiring and current school and systems leaders (e.g. Rural School Leadership Academy, Schools to Learn From, Spring Forward Series, etc.) in partnership with internal and external stakeholders.
Utilize Stable Systems (20%)
  • Work closely with operations and communications staff to ensure strong recruitment and logistics for any program offerings
  • Ensure a cohesive programmatic experience, working directly with regional teams as needed
  • Review quantitative and qualitative data from program offerings to continuously improve offerings in partnership with SMD Participant Leadership Development
  • Continually monitor and learn about the changing context, emerging trends in the field.
Team Responsibilities (10%)
  • Operate flexibly to lend skills and capacity to meet the needs of emerging projects or priorities as they arise
  • Attend and actively engage in professional development opportunities and learning groups
  • Responsibly steward regional resources through consistent compliance with all employee policies and expectations
A WEEK IN THE LIFE
As a member of the CM and Alumni Programming Capability Center, you can expect that every week will be just a bit different; there is no one “week in the life!” Given the specific projects you may be working on, whether team-specific or enterprise-wide, you’ll be spending your time building and strengthening relationships, setting vision and direction, planning, executing, problem-solving, and engaging in ongoing learning and growth. You can also expect to collaborate closely and frequently with other teams. As a member of the Alumni Program Implementation team, your weeks will be focused on curating leadership development experiences for alumni in education.
Your Experience

  • Independent self-starter; excels in initiating, setting the vision for projects and can successfully self-manage to see the project through to completion
  • Strong customer service skills and orientation.
BONUS (preferred Qualifications)
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and evolving, emergent strategy; has an entrepreneurial mindset.
  • A broad knowledge or expertise in educational leadership organizations and content knowledge

Work Demands
  • Some weekend and evening work required for executing programming
  • Ability to travel to in-person programming in various U.S. locations via plane ( likely 6-8 times per year)
  • Ability to lift and transport up to 40 lbs
YOUR FUTURE TEAM
The Teach For America Corps Member and Alumni Programming Capability Center is charged with defining the type of systems-change leadership required to reach “One Day” and how to best develop that leadership first through teaching, and then through school and/or school system leadership for those who choose that path. We provide, develop, and connect people to resources and experiences of superior quality, relevance, and efficiency in ways that can be adapted to specific, localized contexts. As a result, program participants are more likely to feel part of a connected and thriving community, increasingly achieve meaningful and enduring impact, and continue to commit to systems-change leadership in their work for educational equity.
The Alumni Program Implementation team curates and fully executes a suite of leadership development offerings for alumni educators, inclusive of alumni teachers through school system leaders. This fiscal year, they will also explore the scaling and evolution of other offerings for alumni educators from across the enterprise.
