POSITION REPORTS TO: Gerthy Eugene, Senior Managing Director, Head of Programs & Impact
APPLICATION DEADLINE: July 26th at 11:59pm ET
LOCATION: Miami-Dade, FL or Jacksonville, FL highly preferred but role will be remote-first from the state of Florida
What You’ll Do
As the Managing Director, Teacher Training & Systems Impact, you are responsible for setting vision and direction and leading our teacher training programs - supporting our teacher training for Corps Members, non-TFA teachers, and Alumni in Florida in pursuit of our 2030 goal. Additionally, you are a systems thinker, able to take a high-altitude view of our landscape and leverage, execute, and elevate our teacher training and other initiatives to drive broad, community-wide impact.
We are in a transition phase, moving from a very localized Corps Member program to one more standardized across the country with local contextualization. In this role, you will deeply understand our standardized Corps Member program, and set vision and lead implementation of supplemental and supportive elements locally relevant to drive impact toward our 2030 Goal. You will also own the execution of key local programming work including Summer Pre-Service Training, package and deliver teacher training for non-TFA teachers, and lead other key regional initiatives. Given this, you’ll operate in a way that is highly agile, energized by transformation, and open to role and responsibilities shifts as necessary.
What You’ll Be Responsible For
Set Vision and Direction
  • Set vision and direction for how we leverage our novice teacher training ‘superpower’ with non-TFA teachers, delivering on current partnerships and strategically expanding
  • Partner with Alumni Strategy and Fellowships team to identify high-impact initiatives, plan and execute them, and elevate the work and success of those programs
  • Influence and internalize national priorities and initiatives and use them to ensure we’re aligned and on the forefront of promising innovations across Florida
  • Support the vision and direction for our teacher training program from pre-service through year 2 and collaborate with our central CM program team to have a holistic vision and strategy for Corps Member development
Build and Lead High Performing Teams
  • Design and oversee implementation of teacher training initiatives to expand our programming to alumni and non-TFA teachers in pursuit of our 2030 goal both locally in Miami-Dade and statewide. (e.g., rural teacher development initiatives, Strengthening Schools Pathway, Innovate Education Summit, etc.).
  • Oversee collaboration between Corps Members Program team members to find points of synergy where we can support and align efforts to train and develop our Corps Members and alumni to maximize efficiency and effectiveness
  • Build and manage a high-performing team to execute pre-service programming for all Florida Corps Members.
Grow Partnerships
  • Identify and build promising partnerships for the expansion of our teacher training/coaching to non-TFA teachers and alumni locally and statewide in pursuit of our 2030 goal.
  • Work in partnership with the program team leaders to ensure a clear, coherent, and culturally strong participant experience across the participant journey.
A WEEK IN THE LIFE
Over the course of any week, the Managing Director, Teacher Training & Systems Impact will spend time stepping back and collaborating with Corps Member Program teams to analyze trends and create strategies to maximize Corps Member development. You will be on the ground to observe trends and elevate voices to inform teacher training. You will engage in meetings with current partners and collaborate with them to fulfill commitments, especially providing professional development to constituents. You will also be expected to recruit, develop, and lead part time staff to facilitate professional development to program participants. You will seek new partnerships and evolve our novice teacher development resources to be seen as a value-add to Corps Members, alumni, and non-TFA educators. You will be setting up the foundations for a strong Summer Pre-service experience to support our Corps Member program team which means working in collaboration to assess needs as well as cultivate and steward meaningful relationships with stakeholders such as our partners working in the school districts.
