Job Description

The Payroll Manager is responsible for the timely and accurate processing of all company payrolls processed weekly. The payroll manager supervises payroll employees and is responsible for payroll preparation/production in the payroll department. Auditing the work of the payroll specialists and coordinating their workload is an important aspect of this position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties and tasks may be assigned.

  • Regular and reliable attendance is required for the job.
  • Compile and distribute reports each week, month, and quarter accurately and on time.
  • Work closely with the Accounting Department to share information and assist in their analysis of the payroll data.
  • Oversee and coordinate the production of off-cycle checks and special compensation.
  • Communicate with managers and employees to pay employees correctly and on time.
  • Answer employee, staff, and management questions daily during payroll editing and processing. Act as a liaison by answering questions, providing alternatives, and facilitating decision-making.
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Direct the payroll staff in collecting, calculating, and entering data into the HR/Payroll system.
  • Assist in the review of payroll batches for accuracy so that employees are paid on time each week.
  • Work closely with the Human Resources Department to ensure that all payroll-related changes and issues are resolved.
  • Prepare reports using the HR/Payroll system each week before processing payroll to detect and reconcile payroll discrepancies.
  • Oversee the training and problem resolution of the payroll staff. Evaluate direct reports performance, make recommendations for personnel actions, and motivate employees to achieve peak productivity and performance.
  • Recommend and assist in developing and implementing new/revised policies and procedures to ensure efficient payroll processing and ongoing compliance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Ensure all payroll information is properly maintained, including employee and payroll file maintenance.
  • Work with the VP of Payroll to develop controls and systems for all tasks necessary to accomplish USRC's payroll processing objectives.
  • Responsible for supervising and coordinating the daily operations and activities of the payroll specialists' preparation and processing of U.S. Renal Care's payroll.
Requirements:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Requirements include:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred; degree in finance, business, HR, economics, accounting, or another analytical discipline strongly preferred. A combination of education, specialty certifications, and experience in a related area will be considered in place of a degree.
  • FPC or CPP preferred
  • 3-5 years of payroll management experience preferred.
  • Advanced analytical skills required, including Excel (VLOOKUP, Pivot tables).
  • Previous management experience is required.
