Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

Strong knowledge of payroll tax regulations as well as knowledge of taxable fringe benefits.

At least 5 years of payroll tax experience. Workday payroll experience required.

At least 3 years of experience directly managing people including hiring, developing, motivating, and directing people as they work.

Experience working with cross-functional teams and facilitating teams to identify and implement solutions to complex problems.

Excellent time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines.

2 years of previous payroll experience.

Proven experience as Payroll Specialist or in a similar administrative role.

Payroll tax experience a plus.

Exceptional interpersonal skills and communication skills with the ability to communicate complex payroll issues to clients.

In depth knowledge of payroll regulations, tax laws, and best practices

Strong organizational, time management and prioritization abilities

Advanced experience and knowledge of payroll software and/or HR Information Systems

Advanced analytical, technical and problem-solving skills and abilities

Process employee payroll related changes transmitted from HR, such as benefit changes

Reconcile employee payroll benefit deductions with vendor invoices

Maintain current knowledge of applicable federal and state wage, hour and tax laws for multiple states

The starting pay range for this position is:

Problem Resolution: Address and resolve payroll-related inquiries from employees and management.

Bachelors degree or equivalent education and experience.

5 - 7 years payroll specific experience and 2+ years' experience at manager level.

Manage various payroll vendor relationships and assist with contracts.

Experience with Workforce Software preferred.

Familiarity or experience with SAP SuccessFactors preferred.

Knowledgeable on local payroll laws

Able to manage sensitive and confidential information.

Ability to manage and prioritize projects.

Minimum 7 years of payroll experience with high volume payrolls with (1,000+) employees, exempt and non-exempt.

Advanced program or project management experience in the global payroll space, required

Ensure legal and compliance considerations are fully accounted for in all requirements.

Manage small and large tasks and time allocations for multiple projects and across multiple departments simultaneously.

Manage project-related reporting and communication.

Compile and manage project related financial and important metric information.

Review all submitted Flex Talent Expenses for compliance with the A&E Flex Talent Reimbursement Policy.

Experience with retirement systems is desirable.

Must meet the requirements for bonding.

Communicates legally required information and advisories to District administration and employees of the District.

Manage the business requirements gathering for Enterprise SAP Time and Payroll enhancements

Creatively Troubleshoot and manage complex interfaces to downstream systems such as My Time, Kronos, Fidelity, and other benefits related interfaces.

Strategically manage global projects and provide excellent leadership on Time and Payroll business processes and transactions

Manage successful updates to SAP system configuration, Master Data, and OSS notes

Minimum five years of Time or Payroll leadership experience.

Computer literacy a must, with a strong knowledge of Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Watson labor management.

Extensive knowledge of labor management working with the hotel labor management system

Work with Finance Manager and IT Manager to deliver system and process improvements to enhance Payroll function efficiency

Ensure ongoing development and management of internal payroll spreadsheets.

Bachelor’s degree or certification in operations management, Human Resources Management, or another relevant field, or equivalent experience

10+ years of experience in payroll leadership, including management of in-house payroll

Excellent written and oral communications, including education and change management

Continuously drive improvements, automation, communication, and education to increase quality, improve employee experience, and enable rapid scaling

Drive change management and successful adoption of all payroll changes

Diverse HR experience (payroll, operations, benefits, immigration, etc.) preferred

Strong organizational and time management skills

Assist in preparing and distributing payroll reports to management

Proven experience as a Payroll Assistant or in a similar role

Knowledge of payroll software and systems

Ability to work independently and effectively in a remote setting

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Bachelor's Degree (Accounting or Finance preferred but open)

Strong Excel skills (V-lookup & pivot tables)

3 years of experience processing payroll

Experience processing large payroll (students, faculty, unions, etc.-22,000 employees)

Experience doing payroll for large universities
