Job Description
The Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation is a non-profit, volunteer-fueled organization whose mission is to cure Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis and improve the quality of life for the children and adults affected by these diseases. Our work is dramatically accelerating the research process through our varied research initiatives; we also provide extensive educational and support resources for patients and their families, medical professionals, and the public. In addition, we lead federal and state-based advocacy campaigns to support medical research funding and improve patient access to care. Position Summary:
The Manager, Education & Engagement is responsible for the Visiting IBD Fellow program and managerial support for community-based patient and professional education as part of the Education, Support & Advocacy (ESA) Department at the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation. This position reports directly to the Senior Director, Education & Engagement and indirectly to the Vice President, Education & Community Engagement.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities :
  • Attend education programs and ensure a positive experience for attendees, volunteers, vendors, and speakers.
  • Other duties as required.
  • Collaborate within the Community Engagement team and ESA to ensure complementary efforts and continuity of education across areas (e.g. collaborate with Senior Managers of Education, Directors of Support, D&I, Camp Oasis, and Mission Volunteers).
  • Ensure promotion of ESA support programs, Foundation initiatives, and resources at all education events.
  • In partnership with Foundation colleagues and key medical volunteers, , develop annual community-based patient and professional education plan aligned to the Foundation’s strategic plan (e.g., patient and/or professional programming, continuing education).
  • Provide oversight and management to the Visiting IBD Fellow program. Responsibilities include administrative support, complex timeline management, collaboration with key medical volunteers and host site institutions, and the logistics of each fellow’s rotation.
  • Support the development and maintenance of patient and professional regional education committees, comprised of healthcare professionals and chapter leadership.
  • Collaborate with Business Development, Advancement, and other Foundation staff to meet program revenue goals (e.g. support in writing grants, funding proposals, and pharmaceutical relationships).
  • In partnership with regional education committees, coordinate program planning and implementation of program agendas, speakers, logistics, registration, marketing, and evaluation.
  • Support collaboration with key stakeholders to expand diversity & inclusion initiatives for community-based education programs.
  • Work with impact team to establish meaningful outcome measures which reflect priorities of the current strategic plan. Develop procedures and best practices for reporting these measures.
  • Collaborate with marketing team to promote education programs.
Qualifications
  • Extensive travel (30%) is required.
  • 3+ years of experience in program development, preferably with a health-related organization, not-for-profit experience is a plus.
  • An ability to work independently as well as a part of a collaborative team. Many programs and development projects are interdependent and thus careful planning, communication of plans, and execution to the plan is critical.
  • Applicable skills in planning and budgeting, project management, volunteer development and supervision.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Public Health, Health Communications, Health Advocacy, Education or health-related discipline preferred.
  • Excellent organizational skills and proven ability to plan and manage multiple projects, including timelines, resources, and budget.
  • Strong computer skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and database applications preferred.
  • An effective written and verbal communicator with a focus on collaboration.
  • Self-motivated, results oriented professional with strong organization skills.
  • Ability to develop collaborative relations with health care facilities, healthcare professionals, community organizations and volunteers.
  • Experience delivering educational programs in multiple formats (virtually, in person, etc.) with an understanding of the strengths and weaknesses of each model.
  • Ability to provide personal transportation is a plus (reimbursement provided).
  • Able to work normal business hours and ability to work flexible hours (evening and weekends).
  • Demonstrated track record of success using a variety of strategies to improve service delivery, increase presence in the health community, develop and implement attendance growth and participation.
