Baird Holm LLP is growing! We are seeking to add an Litigation Legal Assistant with a minimum of 2+ years of litigation support experience to join our dynamic and diverse Legal Assistant team.
- Perform searches of various legal databases to support and assist attorneys.
- Maintains current knowledge about processes utilized in supported practice area(s).
- Schedule and follow through on depositions and mediations
- Creates and assembles documents and materials for client and other presentations.
- Performs other duties and special projects as requested.
- Proofreads all documents produced, checking for appropriate formatting, spelling and grammatical errors, as well as ensuring that all attachments, exhibits and enclosures are intact.
- Transcribing dictations as needed
- File documents in state and federal courts, keeping current with court rules and filing procedures
- Assists other legal assistants in document production and other work as requested.
- Prepare template documents for all court filings
- Performs ongoing maintenance and management of attorney contacts in ContactEase (CRM), enters new contacts, assists with compiling mailing lists for distribution of communications.
- Calculate and calendar court deadlines
- Format and finalize detailed legal documents to include all required filings
- Reviews and releases attorney time into Aderant for invoicing.
- Assist in the discovery process with preparation of documents and exhibits
- Processes expense reimbursements.
- Performs routine filing into client/matter and other files (physical or electronic), keeps files up to date at all times, and retrieves closed files when requested.
- Makes travel arrangements and manages registration and payment for attorney attendance at conferences.
- Two years of experience in a litigation setting strongly preferred.
- High degree of accuracy and ability to maintain confidentiality at all times.
- High School Diploma required, college experience preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to quickly learn other software programs used by the firm.
- Outstanding communication and listening skills.
- Excellent command of grammar, spelling and sentence structure.
- Ability to prioritize in a multi-tasking environment.
- Ability to take direction.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment as needed.

- Operates a variety of machinery to move and transfer solid waste, refuse, and discarded materials; operates specialized vehicles for collection and emptying of trash containers.
- Utilizes proper safety precautions in all work performed; reports problems and emergency situations; recognizes, avoids, and reports unsafe acts, conditions, accidents, and injuries.
- Supports the relationship between the City of Odessa and the general public by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with visitors and City staff; maintains confidentiality of work-related issues and City information; performs other duties as required or assigned.
- Maintains and cleans equipment and reports mechanical defects and vehicle maintenance needs.
- Supports the divisional operations with regular and timely attendance.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
- 2 year's work experience operating heavy equipment, preferably with the City of Odessa OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Safety policies and standards, and safe driving practices in public streets.
- Operation, maintenance, and capabilities of heavy power-driven equipment.
- Following standard operating and safety procedures and verbal and written instructions.
- Safe and efficient operation and maintenance of vehicles and equipment, vehicle inspection procedures, and making minor adjustments to operating controls.
- Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with co-workers.
- Special vehicle training and licensing may be required.
- Texas State Commercial Driver's License Class B is required
