Job Description

We are seeking an experienced nonprofit executive to execute the next phase of the strategic direction of the new nonprofit. This interim leader may also be an excellent fit to transition into the role full-time. This remote role would ideally be based in the Minnesota Twin Cities area.

Description

TEECH aims to address the disconnect between school and students’ lives/communities by training teachers as community workers and advocates, increasing their capacity to effectively serve communities in which they teach. By drawing on their lived experiences and connections to community, TEECHers will be able to center their curriculum, practices, and relationships around culturally responsive practices—including the trajectory of leadership, policies and priorities of schools.

We are seeking an experienced nonprofit executive to execute on the next phase of the strategic direction of the new nonprofit. This interim leader may also be an excellent fit to transition into the role full-time. This remote role would ideally be based in the Minnesota Twin Cities area.

General Responsibilities

1) Board Governance: Works with the board in order to fulfill the organization mission.

  • Responsible for communicating effectively with the Board and providing, in a timely and accurate manner, all information necessary for the Board to function properly and to make informed decisions.
  • Responsible for leading TEECH in a manner that supports and guides the organization’s mission as defined by the Board of Directors.


2) Financial Performance and Viability: Develops resources sufficient to ensure the financial health of the organization.

  • Responsible for fiscal management that generally anticipates operating within the approved budget, ensures maximum resource utilization, and maintenance of the organization in a positive financial position.
  • Responsible for fundraising and developing other revenues necessary to support the TEECH mission.


3) Organization Mission and Strategy: Works with board and staff to ensure that the mission is fulfilled through programs, strategic planning and community outreach.

  • Responsible for the enhancement of TEECH’s image by being active and visible in the community and by working closely with relevant partners in TEECH’s local communities.
  • Responsible for strategic planning to ensure that TEECH can successfully fulfill its mission into the future.
  • Responsible for working with subject matter experts on the design and implementation of TEECH programs that carry out the organization’s mission.


4) Organization Operations: Oversees and implements appropriate resources to ensure that the operations of the organization are appropriate.

  • Responsible effective administration of TEECH operations.
  • Responsible for signing all agreements and other instruments made and entered into and on behalf of the organization.
  • Responsible for the hiring and retention of competent, qualified staff.


5) Model & Program Implementation: Ensures that TEECH reaching its mission of addressing the disconnect between school and students’ lives/communities by training teachers as community workers and advocates, increasing their capacity to effectively serve communities in which they teach.

  • Responsible for managing partner onboarding and relations including community-based organizations, colleges of education, school districts and more
  • Responsible for completing a review of TEECH's strategy and program pathway steps to identify key pivots in preparation for 12 month growth.
  • Responsible for the design and implementation of a pilot in the Twin Cities area of Minnesota to test hypotheses, weigh factors such as resources required, and determine the best way forward.
  • Responsible for planning and hosting a Fall 2023 white paper/curriculum “design sprint” event


Day to Day Responsibilities

  • Strategic planning and implementation.
  • Implementation of the annual budget.
  • Serve as a spokesperson to TEECH’s constituents.
  • Oversee organization Board and committee meetings.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with various organizations and utilize those relationships to strategically enhance TEECH’s mission.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Board of Directors.
  • Review and recommend contracts for services.
  • Report to and work closely with the Board of Directors to seek their involvement in policy decisions, fundraising and to increase the overall visibility of the organization.
  • Establishing employment and administrative policies and procedures for all functions and for the day-to-day operation of the nonprofit.
  • Oversee marketing and other communications efforts.
  • Engage in fundraising and developing other revenues.
  • Collaborate with the leadership team and supervise future contractors and staff.


Professional Qualifications Needed


  • Five or more years senior nonprofit management experience.
  • Experience and skill in working with a Board of Directors.
  • High level strategic thinking and planning.
  • A history of successfully generating new revenue streams and improving financial results.
  • Strong work ethic with a high degree of energy.
  • Solid organizational abilities, including planning, delegating, program development and task facilitation.
  • Ability to envision and convey the organization’s mission, strategic future to the staff, board, volunteers and donors.
  • Strong public speaking ability.
  • Previous success in establishing relationships with individuals and organizations of influence including funders, partner agencies and volunteers.
  • Active fundraising experience. Excellent donor relations/stewardship skills and understanding of the funding community.
  • A bachelor’s degree.
  • Strong financial management skills, including budget preparation, analysis, decision making and reporting.
  • Demonstrated ability to oversee and collaborate with staff.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Transparent and high integrity leadership.


Salary

$43 - $48 per hour
