Mission Statement:

The purpose of the Waukee Area Chamber of Commerce is as follows:

1. To promote the growth, prosperity and enhance the quality of life in Waukee and vicinity.

2. To contribute to and to aid in the development of Commercial, Industrial, Residential, Civic and Cultural interests of Waukee and education thereof.

3. To secure unified and concerted action in, and to give proper direction to, movements of a general commercial or civic nature.

4. To support and promote such other activities for an improved quality of life in Waukee to the benefit and profit of business and residents alike.

About Us: The Waukee Area Chamber of Commerce is a dynamic organization committed to promoting the growth and development of local businesses. We are seeking a motivated and visionary leader to serve as our President & CEO, responsible for steering the chamber toward continued success.

Objective: The President & CEO is responsible for successfully directing and coordinating all activities in the Chamber to foster the growth and development of Chamber businesses.

Primary Responsibilities:

  1. Champion Core Values: Reflect the core values of The Waukee Area Chamber of Commerce.
  2. Strategic Planning: Assist the Board in developing and managing the annual operational plan and budget to achieve the organization's goals.
  3. Financial Management: Achieve the annual operational plan’s revenues, gross profit, profitability, and other operational goals by specified milestones.
  4. Departmental Leadership: Provide leadership and management oversight to all departments, including finance, staffing, human resources, member services, and sales, to enhance operational efficiency and goal attainment.
  5. Performance Management: Manage outcomes of all department activities and implement necessary changes to drive the achievement of operational goals.
  6. Community Engagement: Develop and maintain positive and professional relationships with community referral sources.
  7. Policy Adherence: Ensure compliance with all Chamber policies, procedures, and ethical standards, and communicate and enforce them among all employees.


Secondary Responsibilities:

  1. Community Partnerships: Maintain and establish strong relationships with community partners to further the Chamber's mission.
  2. Other Duties: Perform any other functions and responsibilities necessary for the successful operation of the Chamber.


Education/Experience Requirements:

  • Four to ten years of related business or non-profit experience or an equivalent combination of education and work experience may be considered.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • College degree preferred or equivalent work experience.


Supervisory Responsibilities: This position will oversee all functions performed by the office staff, including interviewing, hiring, training, performance appraisal, coaching, and problem resolution.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Patience and congeniality during telephone interactions.
  • Capacity to recruit quality administrative team members.
  • Ability to work independently, maintain confidentiality, and meet deadlines.
  • Understand and uphold the policies and procedures established by the Board of Directors.
  • Proficiency in office equipment and technology systems, including Word and Excel.
  • Identify and engage potential Chamber Members as sponsors for Chamber events, programs, and initiatives. Collaborate with team to secure sponsorship commitments to provide engaging community events hosted by the Chamber.
  • Ability to establish positive working relationships with stakeholders.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods, including telephone work.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Flexibility to work evenings or weekends as required.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, sound judgment, and decision-making abilities.
  • Discretion, integrity, and fair-mindedness consistent with Chamber standards.
  • Strong understanding of economic development, public policy, and advocacy.
  • Ability to perform duties in a professional office setting.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with current and potential Chamber Members. Implement strategies to grow the membership base of the Chamber.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with effective listening abilities.

  • Physical Job Requirements: This position primarily involves normal office activities, including extended periods of computer work and occasional travel for events.
